Sean Hayes

Sean Hayes may refer to:

  • Seán Hayes (Tipperary politician)

    Seán Hayes (1890 – 16 February 1968) was an Irish politician. He was a Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) for 10 year, and later a senator for 22 years.

    Hayes was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the June 1927 general election as a TD for the Tipperary constituency, and held the seat until his defeat at the 1937 general election. He stood again at the 1943 general election and at by-election in 1947, but never returned to the Dáil.

    In the 1938 election to the reconstituted Seanad Éireann, he was elected by the Labour Panel, and held the seat at the further election later that year to the 3rd Seanad. He lost his seat at the 1943 Seanad election. He was re-elected by the Labour Panel at the 1948 election to the 6th Seanad, and at subsequent elections until he stepped down at the 1965 election.

    Sean Hayes (musician)

    Sean Padrick Hayes (born August 27, 1969) is an American singer-songwriter.

    Hayes is a native of New York City, but was raised in North Carolina. He began playing traditional American and Irish music with a band called the Boys of Bluehill. He traveled the south, from the Black Mountain Music festival (LEAF Festival) in the Blue Ridge Mountains down to Charleston, South Carolina and eventually found his way to San Francisco, where he has lived since 1992.

    Hayes' song "Rattlesnake Charm" was re-mixed by DJ Mark Farina, and also appears on the Stéphane Pompougnac compilation Hôtel Costes, Vol. 8. His song "3 A.M." is featured on the soundtrack for the television show Kyle XY, and his song "A Thousand Tiny Pieces", was covered by The Be Good Tanyas and the group Blame Sally, and has appeared on the television show Brothers & Sisters. The HBO show Bored to Death featured his song "Fucked Me Right Up" on its second episode as well as on the soundtrack for the first season. This song was also featured in the German film, Resturlaub. His song "Turnaroundturnmeon" is part of Big Change: songs for FINCA, an album curated by Natalie Portman to benefit the anti-poverty organization FINCA. Hayes was also featured singing the duet "Ballantines" with Aimee Mann, released on her album Smilers. His song "Powerful Stuff" was featured on the NBC sitcom, Parenthood and again by Subaru of America as part of its 2011-2012 campaign for the Subaru Forester in the "Reunion" commercial.
