Gala TV

Gala TV is a bingo channel in the United Kingdom which launched on October 4, 2006 replacing Avago. The channel was due to be launched on September 13, 2006, but due to technical problems it was held back. Gala TV is produced by production company etv media group. As of April 1, 2011, Gala TV is only available via GalaBingo.com and no longer broadcasts on Sky channel 861.

Gala TV broadcasts 24 hours a day. AutoBingo runs throughout the day. Then live bingo runs from 5 pm to 1 am. Viewers can register on the website or by using a freephone telephone number. Players then use the website to purchase tickets for, and play, the bingo games.

History

When Gala TV first launched, it was produced by Endemol West and the live studio was located in Bristol with the automated service playout based at Wapping Studios in London. At the time, Gala TV had a very classic approach to the channel. They had a team of five presenters and seven callers. The studio was real and had a cold and classic feel and there was also no interaction with the viewers. Also most of the presenting was done by one presenter. At this point Gala TV broadcast live from 5 pm to 1 am.

Gala TV (Mexico)

Gala TV is a Mexican television network owned by Televisa. Originating at XEQ-TV in Mexico City, the network is distributed throughout Mexico through affiliates. In April 2013, the network changed its name, from Galavisión.

History

Galavisión was founded on September 1, 1968, as Televisión Independiente de Mexico (TIM). TIM later merged with Telesistema Mexicano becoming Televisión Vía Satélite better known as Televisa. In April 2013 Galavisión changed its name to Gala TV.

Programming

The Gala TV schedule features mainly reruns of major Mexican telenovelas, reruns of Televisa series, soccer and lucha libre. On March 18, 2008 it was announced that an agreement was made between Televisa and NBCUniversal that Galavisión would broadcast Telemundo programs on Galavisión as well as on selected channels of SKY México and Cablevision beginning in April 2008.

Gala (born Gala Rizzatto, 6 September 1975) is an Italian pop singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York. Gala has sold over six million records worldwide. Her debut album Come Into My Life included the multiplatinum singles "Freed From Desire", "Let a Boy Cry" and "Come Into My Life" which reached the Top 3 in music charts across Europe, South America, Russia and the Middle East.

Biography

Early life

Named by her parents after Salvador Dalí and Paul Eluard's muse, Gala Dali, Gala left Italy at 17 to attend art school in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1993 she moved to New York where she graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts and became a photographer capturing the New York underground scene of artists and club-goers in the city.

1996–2001: early music career

In exchange of a photo for a European DJ, Gala recorded her first demo. "Freed From Desire" was written in New York and then mailed overseas on a cassette tape. It was recorded in London and was released by Italian independent label Do It Yourself Records.

Gala (apple)

'Gala' is a clonally propagated apple cultivar with a mild and sweet flavor. 'Gala' apples ranked at number 2 in 2006 on the US Apple Association's list of most popular apples, after 'Red Delicious' and before 'Golden Delicious', 'Granny Smith', and 'Fuji' (in order). The skin color of the fruit is non-uniform.

Appearance and flavor

Gala apples are vertically striped or mottled, overall orange in colour. Gala apples are sweet, fine textured, and aromatic, and can be added to salads or cooked, and are especially suitable for creating sauces.

History

The first Gala apple tree was one of many seedlings resulting from a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Kidd's Orange Red planted in New Zealand in the 1930s by orchardist J.H. Kidd. Donald W. McKenzie, an employee of Stark Bros Nursery, obtained a US plant patent for the cultivar on October 15, 1974. It is a relatively new introduction to the UK, first planted in commercial volumes during the 1980s. The variety now represents about 20% of the total volume of the commercial production of eating apples grown in the UK, often replacing Cox's Orange Pippin.
