GTS/BKN, known on-air as Southern Cross Television, is an Australian regional television station serving the Spencer Gulf of South Australia and the Broken Hill area of New South Wales. Based in Port Pirie, South Australia with a satellite office in Broken Hill and studio and playout facilities based in Canberra, the station's name originates from the original Port Pirie and Broken Hill stations' callsigns, GTS-4 Port Pirie and BKN-7 Broken Hill.
GTS signed on for the first time on 1 March 1968. BKN followed soon afterward, on 16 August. In 1974, the stations (and their repeaters) merged to form Spencer Gulf Telecasters and broadcast under the name Central GTS/BKN. The company was bought by Southern Cross Broadcasting (SCB) in 2000, though it retained the Central name until the end of 2005.
Due to their areas' sparse populations, after aggregation they remained among the few stations in Australia that continued to cherry-pick programming from all three networks, though from 2000 onward it began favouring Seven through its affiliation with Southern Cross Television. In 2003, Spencer Gulf Telecasters won the right to broadcast a second station in the same area, and in January 2004 started broadcasting Southern Cross Ten (callsign SGS in Port Pirie and SCN in Broken Hill). Since 31 October 2010, GTS/BKN has also operated a third station relaying Nine Network programs from Sydney and Adelaide (callsign GDS in Port Pirie and BDN in Broken Hill).
BKN refers to various Bohbot Kids Network related ventures.
BKN and BKN II did not initially share programming as to grant the networks Syndex protection.
Bohbot Kids Network, BKN Kids Network or BKN, was a syndicated multi-block package.
BKN consisted of 12 programming hours a week and three blocks. The two weekdays block are Extreme Block, 7-8 AM, and the Comedy Block, 8-9 AM. While the third block, Amazin’ Adventures, aired on weekends 8-9 AM.
BE launched BKN Kids Network in September 1997. By 1997, the network has sign up 104 stations reaching 75% of the US with 65 stations airing in pattern and 35 stations signing on for three years. Amazin’ Adventures was showing The Mask: The Animated Series and Kids Toons in 1997 while Sonic the Hedgehog was airing in the Comedy Block.Chris Craft signed up to affiliate some its channels with BKN.

The GeForce 8 series supports 10-bit per channel display output, up from 8-bit on previous NVIDIA cards. This potentially allows higher fidelity color representation and separation on capable displays. The GeForce 8 series, like its recent predecessors, also supports Scalable Link Interface (SLI) for multiple installed cards to act as one via an SLI Bridge, so long as they are of similar architecture.

The GeForce GTX 280 and GTX 260 are based on the same processor core. During the manufacturing process, GTX chips are binned and separated through defect testing of the core's logic functionality. Those that fail to meet the GTX 280 hardware specification are re-tested and binned as GTX 260 (which is specified with fewer stream processors, less ROPs and a narrower memory bus).
In late 2008, Nvidia re-released the GTX 260 with 216 stream processors, up from 192. Effectively, there were two GTX 260 cards in production with non-trivial performance differences.
A genetically modified soybean is a soybean (Glycine max) that has had DNA introduced into it using genetic engineering techniques. In 1994 the first genetically modified soybean was introduced to the U.S. market, by Monsanto. Soy is a widely planted genetically modified crop that is used to produce genetically modified food.
To modify a soybean’s genetic makeup, the gene to be introduced into the soybean must first be isolated. If the gene does not display an obvious phenotype, or visible characteristic, a marker gene must be linked to it so the modified cells and unmodified cells can be distinguished. According to Dr. Peter Celec, a professor in the Slovakian Comenius University’s Department of Molecular Biology, the “marker genes typically confer resistance to a selective agent, often an antibiotic,” so the unmodified cells can easily be killed off to leave only modified cells behind, and the “other [gene] is meant to confer a desirable phenotype, which is often agronomic (herbicide, pest, stress resistance) or related to food quality (shelf-life, taste, nutritional value).” Once the gene to be put into the soybean’s DNA is isolated, there are several ways to insert the gene, though the most popular are by “biolistics,” by using Agrobacterium, and by electroporation.
