Frágil

Frágil is a Peruvian progressive/symphonic hard rock band. Named after an eponymous Yes album ("Fragile"), Frágil is one of the most respected rock bands in Perú. Fragil started as a symphonic progressive/hard rock band influenced by the likes of Yes, Genesis, ELP, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Rainbow . They earned local fame through their hit single "Av. Larco"(Ave. Larco) in the early 80's. Frágil has a cult status in Peru usually selling out all of their concerts.

Santino (born April 20, 1978) is a male chimpanzee held at Furuvik zoo in Sweden. In March 2009 it was reported that Santino had planned hundreds of stone-throwing attacks on visitors to the zoo.

Biography

Zookeepers noticed, after observing Santino behind blind glass, that the chimp had been busy stockpiling ammunition in anticipation of the visitors, dragging stones from a protective moat and even thumping chunks of concrete into rough discs. He made the piles of stones only on the part of his island facing the crowds. Dr. Mathias Osvath, a cognitive zoologist from Lund University, together with Elin Karvonen, studied the phenomena, and their studies suggests that Santinos behaviour shows that forward planning and premeditated deception isn't a uniquely human trait.

To control his behavior, and keep his hormone levels down, zookeepers castrated Santino. Since then, Santino has been observed to be more playful and is growing a "Buddha belly".

Media coverage

On the 19th of March 2009, Santino and his attacks were mentioned as a part of "when animals attack our morals", on The Colbert Report, which brought to light the poor understanding that exists between man and his ancestral cousin. Also discussed was how these incidents are not limited to "animals" alone, but humans in general.

The following is a list of characters from Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, which began with the 1976 novel Interview with the Vampire. The series primarily follows the antihero Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman turned into a vampire in the 18th century, and by extension the many humans and vampires whose lives he has touched in his own long existence. Rice also explores the origins of vampires far more ancient than the so-called "brat prince" Lestat.

Rice said in a 2008 interview that her vampires were a "metaphor for lost souls". The homoerotic overtones of The Vampire Chronicles are also well-documented. As of November 2008, The Vampire Chronicles had sold 80 million copies worldwide.
