The first season of the American drama television series 24, also known as Day 1, was first broadcast from November 6, 2001, to May 21, 2002 on Fox. The season's storyline starts and ends at 12:00 a.m. on the day of the California presidential primary.
The first season takes place on the day of a fictional U.S. presidential primary.
The season's main plot revolves around an assassination attempt on U.S. Senator from Maryland, David Palmer, a candidate for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, on the day of the primary in California. The central character is Jack Bauer, a former Delta Force operator who is the Director of the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) in Los Angeles. Bauer becomes professionally as well as personally involved when his wife Teri and daughter Kim are kidnapped by the people behind the assassination plot.
The season is essentially divided into two halves:
"Day One" is the second episode of the first series of the British science fiction television series Torchwood. WDirected by Brian Kelly, the episode was first broadcast on the digital channel BBC Three on 22 October 2006 with the series pilot, "Everything Changes", and later repeated on terrestiral channel BBC Two on 25 October. It was the work in the Doctor Who universe to be written by future Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall.
The episode centres on Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) working her first case with Torchwood Three in Cardiff. A purple alien gas is loose in the city and takes Carys Fletcher (Sara Lloyd Gregory) host; the gas kills its victims by orgasm, leaving behind a pile of dust. Over the course of the episode, the team hunt for Carys before the gas kills her. In the end they track her down to a fertility clinic; the gas leaves Carys to take Gwen host, but is stopped by a portable prison cell and dies out.
Originally entitled "New Girl", the episode was written to interpret Gwen's "first day in hell". On the sex gas, series creator Russell T Davies stated "when we're launching a new adult science fiction drama, it's kind of inevitable you're going to do the sex monster". The episode was filmed during a three- to four-week period in May 2006, with much of it filmed before the first episode in the same production block. "Day One" was originally seen by 2.3 million viewers, making it one of the highest-rated BBC Three broadcasts of all time, but was met with generally mixed reviews.
Children of Earth is the banner title of the third series of the British television science fiction programme Torchwood, which broadcast for five episodes on BBC One in 2009. The series had new producer Peter Bennett and was directed by Euros Lyn, who had considerable experience on the revived Doctor Who. Torchwood is a series about an organisation known as Torchwood which defends the Earth against alien threats. The plot of Children of Earth deals with aliens demanding the Earth's children, and a related earlier conspiracy; as such, Torchwood is pitted against the British government when it attempts to conceal its past actions and concede to the present-day aliens' demands. The first, third, and fifth episodes of the serial were written by executive producer Russell T Davies, who also conceived its overall storyline. The third episode was co-written by James Moran whilst the second and fourth were penned by newcomer John Fay.

What EVIL OMEN, what GRISLY FATE,
Came a-crawlin' DOWN that that ROAD
And BLACKENED your DAY?
What ILL-WILL-WIND came blowin'
straight into your FACE?
Well, now we know WHO's the one to BLAME
But the DAY will come and it ain't that FAR
Time will CLEAN your WOUNDS
Time will HEAL your SCARS
I don't KNOW how LOW
I can GO just to make you MINE
But I KNOW that you KNOW
That in the END it will be ALRIGHT
[Lead - MV]
The DAY is coming, that day is CLOSE
Someone's gonna make me PAY
And RIGHT all the WRONGS!
You've heard it ALL before but NOW it's for REAL
In the END you will be FREE
once you're RID of ME
Ans the DAY will come and it ain't that FAR
Time will CLEAN your WOUNDS
Time will HEAL your SCARS
I don't KNOW how LOW
I can GO just to make you MINE
But I KNOW that you KNOW
That in the END it will be ALRIGHT
It's gonna be ALRIGHT.
And let me tell you: That'll be THE DAY.
