Freedom City

Freedom City is a fictional, city-based campaign setting for the roleplaying game Mutants & Masterminds. It was designed by Steve Kenson.

Publication history

While working on Silver Age Sentinels, Steve Kenson pitched Freedom City as a setting for the game, but the game's publishers, Guardians of Order, turned it down.Chris Pramas of Green Ronin Publishing asked Kenson to design a new d20-based superhero RPG. Kenson developed Mutants & Masterminds in 2002. In 2003, his Freedom City setting was published. Green Ronin published a trio of books – Golden Age (2006), Iron Age (2007) and Silver Age (2010) – which developed Freedom City by examining it through three different comic book eras. In 2008, a new series of Freedom City Atlases expanded the original Freedom City setting. A new third edition of Mutants & Masterminds Hero's Handbook (2011) brought a new setting to the game universe, Emerald City, which first appeared in a series of PDF Threat Reports (2011), with a complete setting book planned for GenCon 44.

Taryn Manning

Taryn Manning (born November 6, 1978) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and fashion designer. Manning made her film debut in the teen drama Crazy/Beautiful (2001), followed by a lead part opposite Britney Spears in Crossroads (2002), which garnered her mainstream attention. She then appeared in 8 Mile (2002), White Oleander (2002), A Lot Like Love (2005), and Hustle & Flow (2005), for which she earned critical acclaim. Manning has also had recurring roles in television on Sons of Anarchy and Hawaii Five-0, as well as a leading part as Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.

As a musician, Manning is the vocalist for the electronic duo Boomkat, and is also a co-owner of the clothing brand Born Uniqorn.

Early life

Taryn Manning was born in Falls Church, Virginia, the daughter of Bill Manning, a musician, and his wife, Sharyn. Manning's parents divorced when she was two months old, and her brother, Kellin, and she were raised by their mother in Tucson, Arizona. Manning grew up living in a trailer park with her brother and single mother, who supported the family on a strict income. "My mom didn't buy herself a new pair of shoes and a new outfit until I moved out," said Manning. "Literally when I asked my mom for a dollar I got one single dollar."

Freedom City, Denmark

Freedom City is the southeast part of Hvidovre and a Copenhagen suburb.

This part of Hvidovre is well populated, and is therefore a very vibrant town.

The towns focal points are Freedom City Station, used by 7000 passengers each day, and Freedom City Shoppingcenter which is a shopping center with varied shops, including Freedom City Library. There are several schools, youth centers and clubs used by the many children and adolescents who live in Freedom City.

Freedom City housing consists primarily of public housing, managed by housing associations AKB, KAB and Lejerbo.

The Liberty Gate

The Liberty Gate there is a sculpture from 1981-82 of Hein Heinsen, Stig Brøgger and Mogens Møller, is probably the most controversial artwork in Hvidovre. The work illustrates the theme about change: The straight concrete port as a commentary on the modern cityscape, as it looks now, while the raw gneiss block, resting on corner of the gate, more than 100,000,000 years old and represents the untamed mountains.
