Fred Jones, Jr.

Fred Jones, Jr. (born January 2, 1948) is an American entrepreneur, entertainment producer and founder of the Southern Heritage Classic, which is an annual HBCU college football game in Memphis, Tennessee.

Early years

Jones was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Lula Mae, a homemaker, and Freddie Jones, a dockworker at the St. Louis terminal dock in Memphis. He was raised in the Cleaborne Homes housing community in south Memphis. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966. He worked during the day as an auditor at Union Planters National Bank and went to college at night to earn his BBA degree in finance (minoring in accounting) from Memphis State University in 1971. While at Union Planters, he was transferred to another local branch where it just so happened that Stax Records did its banking. That is where he got his introduction into the music industry.

On the weekends, he would attend shows by The Soul Children and, backed by his banking background, led to becoming their defacto road manager. That eventually led to a similar job working with soul legend Isaac Hayes in 1971. Hayes was searching for someone to "count money."

Fred Jones (Scooby-Doo)

Fred "Freddy" Jones is a fictional character in the American television animated series Scooby-Doo, about a quartet of teenage mystery solvers and their Great Dane companion, Scooby-Doo. He is voiced by Frank Welker.

Character description

In all series, Fred wears a blue and/or white shirt and blue jeans. In the original series, Fred wears an orange ascot tie. In the 1990s direct-to-video movies and in the 2000s series What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Fred's outfit was given an update, with the removal of his orange ascot and two blue stripes added to his sleeves. He is often shown constructing various Rube Goldberg traps for villains, which Scooby-Doo or Shaggy would often set off by mistake, causing the villain to be captured in another way. Fred usually takes the lead in solving mysteries. When searching for clues, Fred and Daphne usually go together with Velma coming along, but sometimes Fred and Daphne would pair off, leaving Velma to go with Shaggy and Scooby. Although generally a very nice and handsome guy, Fred can be bossy at times, and will force Shaggy and Scooby to hang around until the mystery is solved.

Fred Jones (footballer, born 1898)

Frederick John "Fred" Jones (11 February 1898 – 1990) was an English footballer.

An inside forward from Clerkenwell, London, Jones was in the Royal Navy and played for the Navy team before being signed by Arsenal in 1923. He spent just one season with the club, mainly as a reserve playing in the London Combination, but managed to make two First Division matches in the 1923-24 season, making his debut in a 4-1 defeat by Burnley at Turf Moor on 28 April 1924.

After leaving Arsenal, he had spells with Aberdare Athletic, Charlton Athletic and Blackpool.

Fred Jones (footballer, born 1922)

Frederick Arthur "Fred" Jones (21 October 1922 – December 1989) was an English footballer who played as a right-back for Port Vale in the Football League shortly after World War II.

Playing career

Jones played for South Liverpool, before joining Port Vale in June 1946. He made twelve Third Division South appearances in the 1946–47 season, and scored one goal in a 5–3 defeat to Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on 5 April. At the end of the season manager Gordon Hodgson allowed him to leave The Old Recreation Ground.
