This CD was the debut of Fourplay, the super quartet composed of keyboardist Bob James, guitarist Lee Ritenour, bassist Nathan East and drummer Harvey Mason. The style is a soulful blend of jazz, R&B, and pop with an emphasis on original compositions by each band member. El DeBarge lends his seductive vocals to the Marvin Gaye classic "After The Dance" to round out this musical masterpiece.

Double Exposure (band)

Double Exposure is an American disco era band hailing from Philadelphia, USA.

Double Exposure are James Williams, Joseph Harris, Charles Whittington and Leonard 'Butch' Davis, who were originally called 'United Image' back in the 1960s. They have been singing together since junior high school and have remained friends ever since. They recorded for the Salsoul record label.

On December 11, 1975, at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, Pa, Double Exposure began recording what would become one of the most successful albums ever to come out of the Philly music empire.

Their 1976 album Ten Percent featured a pair of major club hits, with the title track's remix by Walter Gibbons being the first commercially available 12-inch single.

Before signing to Salsoul, the band were known as United Image and recorded on the Stax Records label.

In 2001, a dance group called M&S used samples from Double Exposure's "Everyman" in their song called "Salsoul Nugget". Songs include "My Love Is Free".

    Elixir (Duff novel)

Elixir is the debut young adult novel co-written by American entertainer Hilary Duff with Elise Allen. It was available at booksellers on October 12, 2010. It is the first in a series of books that Duff became committed to write. Elise Allen collaborated on the first book with Duff, and became committed to work jointly with her on the others. The book is now a New York Times Best Seller.

    Plot

Clea Raymond is a talented photojournalist and the daughter of high-profile parents. Usually she’s in total control of her camera, but after Clea’s father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, eerie, shadowy images of a strange and handsome young man begin to appear in Clea’s photos—a man she has never seen in her life.

When Clea suddenly encounters this man in person she is stunned—and feels an immediate and powerful connection. As they grow closer, they are drawn deep into the mystery behind her father’s disappearance and discover the centuries-old truth behind their intense bond. Torn by a dangerous love triangle and haunted by a powerful secret that holds their fate, together they race against time to unravel their past in order to save their future—and their lives.

    Elixir (programming language)

Elixir is a functional, concurrent, general-purpose programming language that runs on the Erlang virtual machine (BEAM). Elixir builds on top of Erlang to provide distributed, fault-tolerant, soft real-time, non-stop applications but also extends it to support metaprogramming with macros and polymorphism via protocols.

    History

José Valim is the creator of the Elixir programming language, an R&D project of Plataformatec. His goals were to enable higher extensibility and productivity in the Erlang VM while keeping compatibility with Erlang's tools and ecosystem.

    Features

  • A language that compiles to bytecode for the Erlang Virtual Machine (BEAM)
  • Everything is an expression
  • Erlang functions can be called from Elixir without run time impact, due to compilation to Erlang bytecode, and vice versa
  • Meta programming allowing direct manipulation of AST
  • Polymorphism via a mechanism called protocols. Like in Clojure, protocols provide a dynamic dispatch mechanism. However, this is not to be confused with multiple dispatch as Elixir protocols dispatch on a single type.
  • Elixir (band)

Elixir is a British heavy metal band, formed by Steve Bentley, Kevin Dobbs, Nigel Dobbs and Phil Denton in November 1983. They are notable for being associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.

    History

    1983-1990

The band spent the first time after having formed writing material and rehearsing. After brief stints as "Purgatory" and "Hellfire" the members finally decided on naming the band "Elixir". According to the biography on the band's website the name was chosen through Steve Bentley closing his eyes and putting his finger on a word in a dictionary at random. In need of a vocalist Elixir recruited singer Sally Pike, but after recording a four song demo tape and playing two gigs together, she left the band by the end of the year. In 1984 Pike was replaced by Paul Taylor, and later the same year guitarist Norman Gordon joined the band to fill the vacant spot left by Steve Bentley, who departured after Elixir had completed their second demo tape.

In 1985, Elixir released their debut single "Treachery (Ride like the Wind)" / "Winds of Time". This single was reviewed by Ronnie James Dio in Kerrang! (No 99), and was given the thumbs up.

Why can't it wait 'til morning?
We can talk about it then
'Cos I've had a drink too many
And my troubles, well I ain't got any
Why can't it wait 'til daylight?
Things will seem much clearer then
I'm tired and my eyes are weary
And I just want you lying here with me
    So close your eyes
I'll make it oh, so nice
Well I don't wanna think about what we've said
And I don't wanna know why we hurt ourselves
'Cos I just wanna hold you so close to me
It'll take care of itself and I wanna sleep
So why can't it wait 'til next time?
'Cos that time may never come
Stay here with your arms around me
    You're going nowhere without me
    So close your eyes
I'll make it oh, so nice for you
