I Created Disco

I Created Disco is the debut studio album by Scottish recording artist Calvin Harris, released on 15 June 2007 by Columbia Records. It was preceded by the singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls", which reached numbers ten and three on the UK Singles Chart, respectively.

The album debuted at number eight on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 16,121 copies. On 23 May 2008, it was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).I Created Disco had sold 223,845 copies in the United Kingdom by November 2014.

Writing and recording

Writing and recording for I Created Disco started in 2006 when Harris moved back to his hometown of Dumfries, Scotland, after living in London for two years. All recording and producing for the album took place on an Amiga computer with audio tracker OctaMED in Harris's home studio, called Calvinharrisbeats Studio. All fourteen tracks on the album were written, produced and performed solely by Harris.

Promotion

Preceding the release of the album, Columbia released two singles, "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls", and Harris and his band supported both Faithless and Groove Armada on their live arena tours in the second quarter of 2007. The album cover was also used to promote the fourth generation iPod Nano in yellow.

Vegas (Vegas album)

Vegas is a one-off collaborative album between British solo-artist Terry Hall - formerly of the 2 Tone and ska revival band The Specials - with Dave Stewart formerly of Eurythmics. The duo working with Eurythmics assistants engineer and drummer Olle Romo and engineer Manu Guiot recorded under the group name Vegas. Vegas includes the singles "Possessed", "She" and "Walk into the Wind". Of the three only "Possessed" charted in the UK Top 40. Receiving positive reviews the album was released on CD, Cassette and vinyl LP by the major record label RCA/BMG in October 1992, but failed to chart. The album has since been deleted.

The album was written by Hall and Stewart with the exception of the musical standard "She". No performer credits are provided, Allmusic speculates that Vegas is almost certainly a Dave Stewart production. Dave Stewart likely was responsible for the lion's share of the musical backing with assistance from Romo and Guiot and Hall contributing his vocal.

Following the album's commercial failure the group split. Hall subsequently launched a solo-career, releasing Home in 1994. Stewart also returned to solo-work, releasing Greetings from the Gutter in 1994. The pair re-united in 1997 to support Bob Dylan during his Never Ending Tour for a pair of concerts in Japan.

Vegas (song)

"Vegas" is the fourth single by English Britpop band Sleeper, written by the band's vocalist and guitarist Louise Wener. It was the fourth and final single to be released from their debut album Smart in March 1994 (see 1994 in British music). The single peaked at #33 on the UK Singles Chart.

The single version, also used in the video, is a completely re-recorded version of the song originally featured on the album. This version features saxophone credited to Morgan C. Hoax- an anagram of Graham Coxon from Blur who recorded his contribution after Sleeper supported Blur on tour.

Forsaken (album)

Forsaken is the debut album from the Irish three piece alternative rock band, Hail The Ghost, which was released independently on March 6th 2015 on CD and Digital formats. The music on the album was described as "ambient, cinematic alternative rock" by lead singer and songwriter, Kieran O'Reilly.

Recording

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in JAM Studios, Kells, Co. Meath in Ireland between January 2014 and January 2015. The album was Produced by Kieran O'Reilly and Martin Quinn.

Album artwork

The artwork for the album was a photograph taken by O'Reilly's on-screen Love/Hate co-star, Brían F. O'Byrne, who took the photograph of his youngest daughter, Oona, while at home in Cavan. The image is entitled "Oona hears a noise".

Critical Reception

The album received favourable reviews; Tony Clayton-Lea (The Irish Times) wrote a review on the album for HMV stating, "Hail The Ghost comes across not so much a side or vanity project as a bona fide artistic statement." The album was acknowledged well critically with Hotpress Magazine stating, "The playing throughout is impeccable, and the production pristine, with every instrument allowed to breathe naturally. The overall effect is one of gorgeous contemplative calm. Excellent." The Irish Independent's review of the album included, "Forsaken is unambiguously from the heart" and the "unremitting bleakness is curiously endearing." Dublin Concerts described the album as an "Impossibly beautiful album". The Sunday Times referred to Hail The Ghost as "A winningly downbeat ensemble." Hail The Ghost also performed at Ireland's Electric Picnic Festival 2015

Systematic Chaos

Systematic Chaos is the ninth studio album by American progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater. Released on June 4, 2007 in the United Kingdom and June 5, 2007 in the United States, Systematic Chaos was the band's first release through Roadrunner Records, which was sold to their previous label Atlantic Records, through which the band had released their previous studio album Octavarium (2005). The album was recorded from September 2006 to February 2007 at Avatar Studios in New York City, after the band's first break from summer touring in ten years. The lyrics of the album were written by John Petrucci, James LaBrie, and Mike Portnoy about fictional, political, and personal topics, respectively.

The album peaked in the top twenty in eight countries' sales charts; in addition, the album peaked at the nineteenth position on the Billboard 200, making it the highest peaking Dream Theater album in the United States until the release of Black Clouds & Silver Linings (2009), which debuted at the sixth position. Critical reception of the album was generally positive; Jon Eardley from MetalReview.com called the band, "arguably the most consistent band throughout the entire progressive rock/metal industry".

Forsaken (2015 film)

Forsaken is a 2015 Western drama film directed by Jon Cassar, from a screenplay by Brad Mirman. The film stars Kiefer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, Brian Cox, Michael Wincott, Aaron Poole and Demi Moore. The film had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival on September 16, 2015. The film is scheduled to be released on February 19, 2016.

Plot

After abandoning his gun and reputation as a quick-draw killer, John Henry (Kiefer Sutherland) returns to his hometown in hopes of repairing his relationship with his estranged father (Donald Sutherland), when a local gang is terrorizing the town, and he is the only one who can stop them.
