Fordland is a city in Webster County, Missouri, United States. The population was 800 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Fordland was laid out in 1881. It was named for J. S. Ford, a railroad official.
Fordland is located at 37°9′26″N 92°56′26″W / 37.15722°N 92.94056°W / 37.15722; -92.94056 (37.157342, -92.940689). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.11 square miles (2.87 km2), all of it land.
Due to favorable geographical conditions (e.g., altitude—Fordland is approximately 300 feet higher in elevation than Springfield), numerous Springfield-based media outlets, such as KYTV (TV), KOLR, KOZL-TV, KSPR, and others, have located their transmitting towers in or near Fordland.
As of the census of 2010, there were 800 people, 312 households, and 205 families residing in the city. The population density was 720.7 inhabitants per square mile (278.3/km2). There were 343 housing units at an average density of 309.0 per square mile (119.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.3% White, 0.4% African American, 1.0% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.1% of the population.
