The Ford Model C Ten is a car that was built by Ford UK between 1934 and 1937. Ten stands for 10 British fiscal horsepower. The car was also assembled in Spain (Barcelona) between 1934 and 1936. The German version produced in the same period was named the Ford Eifel.
The car used an enlarged version of the side valve engine fitted to the Ford Model Y that was increased to a capacity of 1172 cc by increasing the bore from 56.6 mm to 63.5 mm but keeping the stroke at 92.5 mm. A standard engine would produce 30 bhp (22 kW) at 4000 rpm. This engine became a favourite for many engine tuners in post war days and gave a start to several sports car makers including Lotus Cars and remained in production until 1962. Suspension was by the Ford system of transverse leaf springs with rigid axles front and rear, a system little changed since the Model T. A three speed gearbox was fitted.
A four seat tourer, now much sought after, joined the saloons in mid 1935 and a de-luxe version, the CX, with chromium plated trim was available from late 1935 to early 1937.

The Ford Model C was a version of the first Ford Model A with a more modern look introduced in 1904. It was built at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. It had a slightly more powerful engine and 15 cm (6 inches) longer wheelbase. It was the entry-level car in the Ford model lineup, slotting below the upscale Model B. Production ended in 1905 with 800 cars made. The Model C was replaced by the derivative Model F in 1905.
Both Models A and C were produced at the same time, but the Model A could also be bought with a Model C engine, an option called Ford Model AC. The Model C engine was a flat-2 giving 8 hp (6 kW) at first and 10 hp (7 kW) by 1905 with a claimed top speed of 38 mph. Ford's entry level Model C two-seater was marketed as a 'Doctor's Car' and sold for only $850 (equivalent to $22000 today), with the option of making it a four-seater for an extra $100. The top cost extra, rubber for $30 and leather for $50.
Although the Model C had a protruding front "box" like a modern car, unlike the flat-front Model A, this was purely ornamental — the engine remained under the seat (the gas tank was what was under the hood).

It was the big brother to the smaller Ford Y, which had a 933 cc (57 ci) engine. The styling was inspired by the 1934 Ford V8, only smaller. The Model C was also built by Ford Germany, where it was named the Ford Eifel after the mountain range near Cologne, and it was sold from 1934 to 1940.
The British line was named Ten (for 10 British fiscal horsepower).
In 1935, the grille and bonnet (hood) on the British line was facelifted and the mark was changed to CX.
In 1937, the body was upgraded again and the design of the British and German product lines became more different. The German line was still named Eifel. The British equivalent was named the Model 7W.
