Food Network Magazine

Food Network Magazine is a monthly food entertainment magazine founded by Hearst Corporation and Scripps Networks Interactive based on the latter's popular television network Food Network. The magazine debuted in 2008, originally as two newsstand-only test issues to be followed by the first official issue in June 2009. As of 2010, it reaches 5 million readers with each issue with a 1.35 million circulation. It is now published 10 times a year. The magazine has its headquarters in New York City.

History

In October 2008, Hearst President Cathie Black announced that Hearst Magazines had partnered with Scripps Networks Interactive to develop Food Network Magazine. Maile Carpenter, who was working at Everyday with Rachael Ray, is the magazine's founding editor. The magazine started out with a 300,000 issue rate base guarantee to advertisers. Due to the significant growth of interest and subscribers generated by internet sales and television, that guarantee increased to 1.25 million after 9 issues in 2009-2010.

Food Network

Food Network (legally known as Television Food Network) is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by Television Food Network, G.P., a joint venture between Scripps Networks Interactive (which owns 70% of the network) and the Tribune (FN) Cable Ventures Inc. (which owns the remaining 30%). Despite this ownership structure, the channel is managed as a division of Scripps Networks Interactive. The channel airs both specials and regular episodic programs about food and cooking.

In addition to its headquarters in New York City, Food Network has offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit, Jersey City, Cincinnati, and Knoxville, Tennessee.

As of February 2015, Food Network is available to approximately 96,931,000 pay television households (83.3% of households with television) in the United States.

History

Food Network was founded on April 19, 1993 as TV Food Network and was launched on November 23 of that year; its legal name remains Television Food Network, G.P. Within a few years, the network had shortened its on-air brand name, removing the "TV" from its name. It was developed by Reese Schonfeld (one of the founders of CNN), under the direction of Providence Journal president Trygve Myrhen. Its original partners included the Journal itself, Adelphia, Scripps-Howard, Continental Cablevision, Cablevision, and most importantly, the Tribune Company, which provided the network's technical output. The network was initially launched as a preview in September 1993 with two initial shows featuring David Rosengarten, Donna Hanover, and Robin Leach.

Food Network (Australia)

Food Network is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel owned by the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). The channel airs programs about food and cooking, from cultures around the world.

The channel has a licensing agreement with Scripps Networks Interactive, the operator of the American channel of the same name, to use the name and logo. SBS also has a programming deal with Scripps which will see numerous American Food Network programs on the channel.

History

SBS first revealed it would launch a food dedicated channel on 30 September 2015, following the Australian Government's decision to not permit the public broadcaster to increase the amount of primetime advertising it is allowed to broadcast. It is Australia's first and only free-to-air channel to be dedicated exclusively to food related programming. All programs aired on the channel are available to stream on SBS on Demand.

The channel began broadcasting on 17 November 2015 at 1 pm AEDST and is broadcast 24 hours a day on channel 33, replacing a simulcast of SBS. The first programme shown on the channel was 30 Minute Meals.
