Flyer (album)

Flyer is a 15-track studio album, primarily of original material by the singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith, released in 1994. It was nominated for Best Contemporary Folk Album in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards (March 1, 1995). The album has contributions from Peter Buck, Mark Knopfler, Emmylou Harris, Larry Mullen Jr., Adam Clayton, Adam Duritz, The Chieftains and the Indigo Girls.

Reception

Writing for AllMusic, the critic Vik Iyengar wrote of the album, "Although she falters a bit when choosing to tackle politics ("Time of Inconvenience"), this is her most consistent album of original songs in almost a decade."

Flyer (New-Gen)

Flyer (Jude Jackson) is a fictional character, a superhero that appears in the NEW-GEN comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Chris Matonti, J.D. Matonti, and Julia Coppola, he first appeared in NEW-GEN #1 (2010). He is a founding member of the A.P.N.G., and gained his powers when Deadalus released a nanobot plague on the world of New-Gen.

Fictional character biography

Early life

Jude was born in the utopian world of New-Gen, an environment in which almost every single aspect is controlled by nanotechnology. He was a small child when Deadalus, apprentice and colleague of the de facto ruler of New-Gen, went rogue and released an enormous quantity of biologically manipulative nanobots on the population. He was one of the children infected by the tiny robots, radically altering his physical form. He grew a pair of large, bat-like wings as a result of his infection. Gabriel took him in as a student and member of the A.P.N.G. as a means to ensure his safety and his ability to use his powers for good.

Flyer (automobile)

The Flyer was a brass era automobile manufactured in Mt. Clemens, Michigan by the Flyer Motor Car Company from 1913-1914. The Flyer had a monobloc four-cylinder water-cooled engine with selective transmission.

Noir (fashion)

Noir is a Danish luxury fashion brand founded by designer Peter Ingwersen.

Introduction

Noir and the organic cotton brand Illuminati II were founded concurrently in 2005, and together with the diffusion line Bllack Noir, introduced in 2008, the three brands are owned by the holding company Noir Illuminati II Holding.

Noir’s design philosophy has its fulcrum in contrasts where shiny fabrics are set against matt textiles and stringent lines are combined with voluminous shapes. Inspiration is drawn from the dark side, literature such as Edgar Allan Poe and the Victorian era, mixed with sadomasochistic elements.

Objective

Peter Ingwersen’s founding vision behind Noir was to set up a luxury fashion apparel brand that in all links of the supply chain was based upon Corporate Social Responsibility principles. Inspired by the Zeitgeist – or ‘the spirit of the times’ – Ingwersen wanted Noir to be the first luxury clothing brand to incorporate social responsibility into the business model and blend organic and fair trade principles with mink, leather and similarly luxurious materials. The founding idea behind Noir was thus to create socially conscious fashion in an industry that is not otherwise known for its commitment to social responsibility. In other words: "We want to be known as the first brand to turn corporate social responsibility sexy”, says Peter Ingwersen.

Passion (Kreesha Turner album)

Passion is the first album by the Canadian singer Kreesha Turner. It was released on August 12, 2008, in Canada and was released in early 2009 in the United States.Passion had been available for advanced streaming on MuchMusic.com. a week earlier.Passion was released in the US in early 2009.

In early August, 2008, the album was leaked onto MTV Canada's The Leak on its official website.

Initially, on the back of the album, track 14 was listed as the "Bounce With Me (Rhythm Mix)" but this was an error and the track is actually the "Don't Call Me Baby (Rhythm Mix)". This error on the back cover was corrected on later pressings of the album.

Although Turner originally signed in the US to Virgin Records, a Capitol Music Group label, her first American release will instead be shifted to the Capitol Records imprint, also within the Capitol Music Group umbrella. This will keep a consistency with her Canadian releases under EMI Music Canada which utilize the Capitol Records imprint and are copyrighted by Capitol Records, LLC.
