Bombay Vikings' are a pop group that combine Indian filmi and classical music, formed in 1994 in Stockholm, Sweden. The band was started by Neeraj Shridhar, Oscar Söderberg, and Mats Nordenborg, and became popular with remixes of old Bollywood hits such as "Kya Soorat Hai", "Woh Chali" and "Chod Do Anchal".
The group was popular both in India and Pakistan, as well as overseas among the Indian music community, due to its unusual combination of classic Bollywood style and European experimentation. It was the first group to sing in Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English, a brainchild of its front-man, Neeraj Shridhar.
Bombay Vikings were formed in 1994 in Stockholm, Sweden. The three experienced musicians met when Mats introduced Neeraj Shridhar and Oscar Soderberg to each other. The band was born primarily due to a common interest of Indian melodies from sources such as Hindi films and classical music. Neeraj became the lead vocalist and back-up guitar, and also composed pop rock, jazz, hip-hop, soul, and reggae songs. Mats played the saxophone; as a jazz specialist, he used this knowledge while composing for the new band. Mats and Johan Folke, keyboard specialists, used their years of exposure to the different genres of music on the synthesizer. They were soon joined by Morgan on the drums, Par on the bass, and Staffan as the lead guitarist. Bombay Vikings began performing live shows in Sweden and Norway. When all the musicians got together and began jamming, they didn't know they would be coming out with a new form of music, but they wanted to do something creative for India.
Fly Like an Eagle is the ninth studio album by American rock group Steve Miller Band. The album was released in May 1976 (see 1976 in music) by Capitol Records in North America and Mercury Records in Europe. A Quadraphonic mix of the album was available on the Quadraphonic 8-Track cartridge format (in which Track 1 - "Space Intro" is edited into "Fly Like an Eagle" as one track, and Track 6 - "Take the Money and Run" intro repeats twice).
The album was a success, spawning three singles: the title track, "Take the Money and Run" and "Rock'n Me", and eventually receiving quadruple platinum certification from the RIAA.
In 2003, the album was ranked number 450 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. On an updated list in 2012, the magazine listed the album at number 445.
In 2006 the album was re-released to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. The CD is digitally remastered and includes three bonus tracks and a bonus DVD features a concert performance at Mountain View, California's Shoreline Amphitheater in 2005 with over two hours of music in 5.1 Surround Sound (Note this surround mix is not based on the QUAD mix as track 1 and 6 are not different from the standard releases). Guest musicians include George Thorogood and Joe Satriani. The DVD also features a lengthy interview with Steve Miller, archive footage, never-before-seen photographs, and early demo recordings.
"Fly Like an Eagle" is a song written by Steve Miller for the album of the same name. The song went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the week of March 12, 1977, kept from the top spot by "Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star Is Born)" by Barbra Streisand. The single edit can be found on Greatest Hits (1974–1978). The song has an unusually mellow and "dreamy" feel. It is usually played in tandem with "Space Intro", but the song also segues into "Wild Mountain Honey".
An earlier 1973 version of the song features a more bluesy and less funk-inspired rhythm, and guitar taking the synthesizer parts (albeit with similar delay effects). The lyrics are slightly different, indicating that the place the eagle wants to fly away from is a Native American reservation.
The main guitar hook in the song was first used in a slightly different form on Miller's 1969 track "My Dark Hour" (which featured Paul McCartney).
British artist Seal covered "Fly Like an Eagle" for the Space Jam soundtrack, even sampling Miller's original "Space Intro" parts in the song's chorus. This version peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and number two on the Canadian RPM 100 Chart. The single was his first top ten since 1995's "Kiss from a Rose".
It' S Love That I Need
It' S Only Love That I Need
It' S Love That I Need
It' S Only Love That I Need
Kabhi Phool Denaa Manaane Ke Lene
Kabhi Door Rahanaa Sataane Ke Liye
Aur Kabhi Kabhi Khaamosh Baithe Baanhon Ke Sahaare
Sooraj Bujhaa Na Saagar Kinaare
Phir Raaton Ko Chaand Ugaanaa
Vaise Pyaar Ke Naam Pe To Yaaro Sab Huaa Hai
Ab Ye Pyaar Bhi Ho Jaaye Bas Itni Duaa Hai
Kabhi Raahon Mein Phirte Rahnaa
Binaa Kahe Bas Yun Sunte Rahnaa
Kaanon Mein Uski Saanson Se Jalte Huey Pighalte Rahnaa
It' S Only Love I Want To Hold On To
And For Ever Make It Stay
It' S Only Love I Want To Hold On To
And For Ever Make It Stay
It' S Only It' S Only Love
It' S Only It' S Only Love
O Oh Yeah
It' S Only It' S Only Love
It' S Only It' S Only Love
It' S Only Love
It' S Only It' S Only Love
It' S Only It' S Only Love
Janmon Ke Vaade Har Baar The Kasam
Kabhi Jaan Kahnaa Kabhi Kahnaa Sanam
Aur Sau Sau Baar Ye Kahnaa
Hamein Pyaar Hai Tumhi Se
Le Aayeinge Ham Taare Zamin Pe
Jo Kahoge To Jaan Bhi Deinge
Vaise Pyaar Ke Naam Pe To Yaaro Sab Huaa Hai
Ab Ye Pyaar Bhi Ho Jaaye Bas Itni Duaa Hai
In Lamhon Ko Rokne Ki Vo Naakaam Koshishein Karnaa
Jo Guzrein Hain Saath Unko Phir Yaadein Banaa Ke Rakhnaa
It' S Only Love I Want To Hold On To
And For Ever Make It Stay
It' S Only Love I Want To Hold On To
And For Ever Make It Stay
