Fly (EP)

Fly is the second EP released by rock band Sick Puppies. It was released in 2003 and features 6 tracks; including a remix by Josh Abrahams, an Enhanced CD featuring the making of the "Fly" music video and a rare version of the clip exclusive to the CD. It is the last release to feature Chris Mileski on drums.

Fly (Archie Comics)

The Fly is a fictional comic book superhero published by Red Circle Comics. He was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby as part of Archie's "Archie Adventure Series" and later camped up (as Fly Man) as part of the company's Mighty Comics line. He first appeared in The Double Life of Private Strong #1, however his origin story and first "full length" appearance were in Adventures of the Fly #1 (Aug. 1959).

Publication history

After the first four issues of Adventures of the Fly (Simon and Kirby left the title after the fourth issue), others took on the character and made him an adult lawyer who fought crime in Capital City. He was later partnered with Fly Girl.

Adventures of The Fly was cancelled with issue #30 (Oct. 1964). The Fly also appeared in short stories in some of Archie's other titles (The Double Life of Private Strong #1, #2 both published in 1959), (Pep Comics #151, 154, 160 and Laugh #128, 129, 132, 134, 137-139) between October 1961 and January 1963. His own series was restarted as Fly-Man as part of the "Mighty Comics Group", which ran from issues #31-39 (May 1965 - Sept. 1966). The title changed again to Mighty Comics, which featured various Archie super-heroes in solo adventures for #40-50 before its cancellation in 1967.

Fly (Maddie & Tae song)

"Fly" is a song recorded by American country music duo Maddie & Tae. It was released in January 2015 as the second single from their debut studio album, Start Here.

Content

The song is an inspirational song primarily backed by acoustic instruments and by a prominent fiddle and it's in the key of F major. The song is in strong contrast with the duo's previous single "Girl in a Country Song": while the latter used irony and satire to criticize Nashville’s emphasis on dated and exploitive female stereotypes, "Fly" delivers a sincere narrative account of a girl striving for success.

"'Fly' is not about when the going's easy and the path's smooth,” Taylor Dye shared about the song. "It's when everything's going wrong… when you're sure it's not going to happen… and somehow still take that step. For Maddie and I, that always seems to be the moment when – literally – we fly".

Reception

Critical

The song has received positive reviews from music critics: Taste of Country gave "Fly" a positive review, saying it is "a meaningful ballad that showcases their full, unique harmonies". Tammy Ragus of Country Weekly rated it A-, saying that "while [the subject matter] is hardly a new concept for country music, the arrangement is unique in that it is both urgent and tender. And the impeccable and seamless harmonies…give 'Fly' an innocent yet anthemic feel."Got Country Online rated the song four stars out of five, saying that "the lyrics are notably motivational and inspiring and may be exactly the message our younger generation of listeners need right now". Ben Foster of Country Universe gave the song a B+ grade, praising the girls' vocal delivery and the song's production. He also thought that "the hook “You can learn to fly on the way down” [...] is a beautiful encapsulation of the song’s central point that one should not be deterred by fear of failure".

Black Vulcan

Black Vulcan is a fictional African-American superhero on the animated series Super Friends created by Hanna-Barbera. He was voiced by Buster Jones.

Fictional character biography

Unlike most of the Super Friends, Black Vulcan was not a pre-existing DC Comics character. This is particularly notable since DC Comics' roster did include an African American superhero with electricity-based powers, Black Lightning, who could not be used on the show due to disputes between DC and Black Lightning's creator Tony Isabella.

Black Vulcan appeared in The All-New Super Friends Hour cartoon series (episode "The Whirlpool").

His powers include the ability to emit electricity from his hands. He can also fly by charging his lower body with energy. On a few occasions, he has exhibited powers he had not shown before, such as the ability to assume a form of pure energy and travel at the speed of light (in an unsuccessful attempt to escape a black hole.) He was able to travel back in time by fluctuating his body's energy to open a rift in space-time. Black Vulcan is able to spot-weld microelectronics.

Juice (film)

Juice is a 1992 American crime drama film directed by Ernest R. Dickerson and written by Ernest R. Dickerson and Gerard Brown. The film stars Omar Epps, Tupac Shakur, Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins, Khalil Kain, and Samuel L. Jackson. It has cameo appearances by Queen Latifah, EPMD, Special Ed, Ed Lover, Doctor Dré, Flex Alexander, Fab Five Freddy, Yo-Yo, Donald Faison and Treach.

The film touches on the lives of four youths growing up in Harlem. It follows the day-to-day activities in the young men's lives starting out as innocent mischief but growing more serious as time passes by. It also focuses on the struggles that these young men must go through everyday as well such as police harassment, rival neighborhood gangs and their families.

The film was shot on location in New York City mainly in the Harlem area in April 1991.

Plot

Bishop (Tupac Shakur), Q (Omar Epps), Raheem (Khalil Kain), and Steel (Jermaine 'Huggy' Hopkins) are four friends growing up together in Harlem. They regularly skip school, instead spending their days hanging out at Steel's apartment, at a neighborhood arcade, and also a record store where they steal LPs for Q's DJ interests. Generally, they are harassed daily by the police or a Puerto Rican gang led by Radames (Vincent Laresca).

Capital Liverpool

Capital Liverpool is an Independent Local Radio station serving Liverpool. It is owned and operated by Global Radio and relaunched as part of the Capital FM network early in 2016, replacing 107.6 Juice FM.

History

The station launched on Friday 27 March 1998 as 107 Crash FM on 27 March 1998 from studios at 27 Fleet Street in Liverpool. It developed from a handful of RSL broadcasts in the city and was driven by Janice Long with backing from Bob Geldof, Primal Scream, Urban Splash and Kiss 102's Mike Gray and Boy George.

In the application for a full-time licence, Crash FM said it would provide an alternative rock and dance station, aimed at 15- to 34-year-olds, with a target audience of over 80,000 tuning in for around eight hours per week in the first year. The original shareholders also included CLT, although they withdrew before launch with the 25% stake taken by Channel Radio.

Crash was brought out by Forever Broadcasting in late 1999 and relaunched as Juice 107.6 on 26 March 2000. By September of the same year, the station's RAJAR had increased significantly, after the station's format had been altered to include more mainstream pop and dance music.
