Rushes is a 1998 ambient techno album by The Fireman, a duo consisting of Paul McCartney and producer Youth.

Recording

One line of lyrics included in the song "Palo Verde" was taken from an unreleased track of McCartney's, titled "Let Me Love You Always". Similarly, bits from another unreleased song, "Hey Now (What Are You Looking at Me For?)", was used in "Bison", "Auraveda" and "7 a.m.". Both unreleased tracks were recorded at some point during 1995, at McCartney's The Mill studio. In an edition of Club Sandwich magazine, two more songs were mentioned: "Plum Jam" and "Through the Marshes". All of the tracks featured on the album were recorded early 1998.

Release and reception

Better received than predecessor Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest, Rushes is distinguished by not relying so much on McCartney's previous recordings.

Rushes was released in the UK on Hydra on 21 September 1998, while in the US it was released on Capitol on 20 October 1998. The album was also released on double vinyl. Two 12" singles were released from the album, both mixes of "Fluid". The first 12", released on the same day as and with the same name as the album, contains the tracks "Fluid", "Appletree Cinnabar Amber", and an extended version of an album track titled "Bison (Long One)". The second 12" was released in 1999, as a limited edition of 3000, titled Fluid (Nitin Sawhney Remixes), and features three remixes of "Fluid" ("Fluid (Out of Body and Mind Mix)", "Fluid (Out of Body Mix)" and "Fluid (Out of Body with Sitar Mix)") and the album version of "Bison". Like the duo's first album,Rushes was a no-show on the charts and is also no longer in print.

Dreux Pierre Frédéric (born November 26, 1985), better known by his stage name Lil' Fizz, is an American rapper and actor. He was best known for being the youngest member and rapper of the R&B group, B2K. Currently, he stars on the television show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.

Career

Lil' Fizz was a member of the group B2K from 2001 to 2004, known as the rapper of the group. After the group broke up, he began his independent rapping career. His debut EP, Payday, was released on July 17, 2007 on iTunes as a digital download release.

He reconnected with former fellow B2K member J-Boog and long time friend and business manager Damuer H. Leffridge to launch a new record label, Popular Entertainment. Under Popular Ent. They released a 5 song EP entitled Night Life, available for digital download on iTunes September 2009.

Personal life

He is a father to son Kamron David Frédéric (born January 8, 2010) with ex-girlfriend Moniece Slaughter.

Turn (biochemistry)

A turn is an element of secondary structure in proteins where the polypeptide chain reverses its overall direction. For beta turns go to Beta turn.

Definition

According to one definition, a turn is a structural motif where the C^α atoms of two residues separated by few (usually 1 to 5) peptide bonds are close (< 7 Å), while the residues do not form a secondary structure element such as an alpha helix or beta sheet with regularly repeating backbone dihedral angles. Although the proximity of the terminal C^α atoms usually correlates with formation of a hydrogen bond between the corresponding residues, a hydrogen bond is not a requirement in this turn definition. That said, in many cases the H-bonding and C^α-distance definitions are equivalent.

Types of turns

Turns are classified according to the separation between the two end residues:

In an α-turn the end residues are separated by four peptide bonds ().

In a β-turn (the most common form), by three bonds ().

In a γ-turn, by two bonds ().

Loopback

Loopback, or loop-back, refers to the routing of electronic signals, digital data streams, or flows of items back to their source without intentional processing or modification. This is primarily a means of testing the transmission or transportation infrastructure.

Many example applications exist. It may be a communication channel with only one communication endpoint. Any message transmitted by such a channel is immediately and only received by that same channel. In telecommunications, loopback devices perform transmission tests of access lines from the serving switching center, which usually does not require the assistance of personnel at the served terminal. Loop around is a method of testing between stations that are not necessarily adjacent, where in two lines are used, with the test being done at one station and the two lines are interconnected at the distant station. A patch cable may also function as loopback, when applied manually or automatically, remotely or locally, facilitating a loop-back test.
