Flower girl

The phrase flower girl is commonly used to refer to a young female who scatters flower petals down the aisle during a wedding procession. However, the term can also be used to refer to girls who sell flowers, such as the fictional character Eliza Doolittle, or "Flower Seller Uniqua" (a character in the Backyardigans). Finally, girls who have flower-related powers or themes, like Lun Lun the Flower Girl are also considered 'flower girls'.

For a wedding event, using a flower girl is optional; however, it is a traditional component.

In weddings

In a traditional wedding procession, flower girls are usually members of the bride or groom's extended families or a friend of either family. Flower girls are usually aged between three and ten years old. During the wedding procession, a flower girl walks down the aisle with her partner, who is usually the ring bearer or page boy.

Activities

A flower girl typically walks in front of the bride during the wedding processional and scatters flower petals on the floor before the bride walks down the aisle. However, some ceremony venues do not allow scattering of the petals.

An unidentified decedent, or UID, is a deceased person whose legal identity is unable to be determined by law enforcement. Although the majority of UIDs are identified soon after their bodies are recovered, it is not uncommon for bodies to remain unidentified for years or even decades. There are approximately 40,000 unidentified decedents in the United States at any given time.

A deceased body can be identified in several different ways. Most commonly, a relative of the deceased identifies the body by sight. However, if a body is heavily decomposed, skeletal, or unrecognizable due to severe facial trauma at the time of recovery, other methods must be used. Some other common modes of identification include fingerprints, dental records, chest x-rays, and as a last resort, comparing the deceased's DNA to the DNA sequence of a genetically close relative such as a parent or sibling. In some cases, circumstantial evidence can be used to formally identify a body; for example, if the deceased has a driver's license on their person, or is found deceased on their own property after going missing, those context clues can be used to make an identification. Since identification of a deceased individual is a legal matter, officials require a high degree of certainty in order to make a formal identification.

Flower Girl (film)

Flower Girl is a 2013 Nigerian romantic comedy film set and shot in Lagos, Nigeria. It revolves around a story of Kemi (Damilola Adegbite) who is dying to get married to Umar (Chris Attoh); a young man who is desperate to get ahead in his career. When their relationship hits troubled waters, Kemi seeks the help of movie superstar Tunde (Blossom Chukwujekwu) and they hatch a plan to get Kemi what she wants.

Plot

Kemi works in her parents’ flower shop, and she dreams of becoming one of the happy married couples she sees every day. Her longtime lawyer boyfriend Umar has promised to marry her when he gets a promotion, but she is growing impatient. Still living with her embarrassing parents, she spends her nights in her room, planning the wedding she hopes to have someday. Then comes the day that she has been waiting for; Umar has got the promotion! However, when she arrives expecting a big proposal, he breaks up with her instead. Devastated, she goes on a delivery, and, unable to see where she is going through tears of grief, she gets hit by a car. The driver turns out to be Tunde Kulani, the famous Nollywood movie star.
