The Flobots are a rock and hip hop musical band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2000 by Jamie Laurie. Flobots found mainstream success with their major label debut Fight with Tools (2007), featuring the single "Handlebars", which became a popular hit on Modern Rock radio in April 2008.
In October 2007, after a year of writing and producing, the Flobots released their proper debut album Fight with Tools and sold out their CD release show at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, Colorado.
Flobots entered a contest held by Denver radio station 93.3 (KTCL), called Hometown for the Holidays, which allowed fans to vote for their favorite songs from 35 local bands. Flobots subsequently won both the radio portion of the contest as well as the live performance award. As a result, the station put "Handlebars" into full rotation at the end of January due to the immense popularity of the song during the contest.
An onomatopoeia (i/ˌɒnoʊˌmætəˈpiːə, -ˌmɑː-/, or chiefly NZ /-ˈpeɪə/; from the Greek ὀνοματοποιία; ὄνομα for "name" and ποιέω for "I make",adjectival form: "onomatopoeic" or "onomatopoetic") is a word that phonetically imitates, resembles or suggests the source of the sound that it describes. Onomatopoeia (as an uncountable noun) refers to the property of such words. Common occurrences of onomatopoeias include animal noises such as "oink", "miaow" (or "meow"), "roar" or "chirp". Onomatopoeias are not the same across all languages; they conform to some extent to the broader linguistic system they are part of; hence the sound of a clock may be tick tock in English, dī dā in Mandarin, or katchin katchin in Japanese, or "tik-tik" (टिक-टिक) in Hindi.
Although in the English language the term onomatopoeia means the imitation of a sound, in the Greek language the compound word onomatopoeia (ονοματοποιία) means "making or creating names". For words that imitate sounds, the term Ηχομιμητικό (echomimetico or echomimetic) is used. Ηχομιμητικό (echomimetico) derives from Ηχώ, meaning "echo or sound", and μιμητικό, meaning "mimetic or imitation".
Onomatopoeia is the only album by Jonny 5 + Yak, with Jonny 5 later going on to form the band Flobots, released locally in 2001. The album featured David Gralow on guitar, Terrence Favors on cello, and Jaymz Haynes on bass. The album has since been re-printed and re-released by Jonny 5 due to fan interest, with all proceeds going towards the Flobots' own charity.
Note: Tracks 14–21 are four-second long silent tracks.
Onomatopoeia is a DC Comics supervillain and enemy of Green Arrow and Batman. He first appeared in Green Arrow #12 (March 2002). He was created by writer Kevin Smith and artist Phil Hester. IGN's Daniel Crown called him "one of the coolest new villains of the decade".
Kevin Smith discussed the character in a 2007 interview:
Onomatopoeia first appears in Green Arrow #12 (March 2002), in which he murders a female crimefighter named Virago, after telling her his name. The interlude in which this occurs serves as a lead-in to "The Sounds of Violence", a three-issue storyline that runs through issues #13-15 of the title, in which he is the main antagonist. No personal characteristics are revealed about Onomatopoeia aside from the fact that he is a caucasian male, which is seen when portions of his face obscured by shadow are seen in Green Arrow #14, and when the lower half of his face is seen again in issue #15. Onomatopoeia is a serial killer who targets non-superpowered superheroes. His name is derived from the fact that he imitates noises around him, such as dripping taps, gunshots etc. During the course of this storyline, he shoots Connor Hawke, the second Green Arrow, who is saved by his mentor Oliver Queen (the first and original Green Arrow). While Connor is being operated on in the hospital, Onomatopoeia returns to finish the job. He kills several doctors in the operating room, and after his attempt to kill Connor is foiled by Queen and Black Canary, he manages to escape.

Well, anyway, somehow hip hop's no fun now.
It's all been done now. So I stall my puns, wow.
But then I recall my one vow is to bust this bubble of injustice, subtly.
What'll we muddle up if we bum rush this plush system?
UmÉgood if we crush this one.
But maybe puddle's of blood'll be the rebuttle.
I stood in the huddle, but would I risk lung trouble?
Could I lift guns that'll take life?
'Cause there isn't a stunt double or a fake knife.
So should I just run cuddle up with a great wife
and make life-erotically perpetuating paradise
on the late night, melodically.
U.S. invading places like we got a key to every door.
The people never see the war when we plan to slaughter smaller villages,
killing woman to man to daughter.
All of us'd really feel ill if we knew who we hand a lot of dollars to,
so my soliloquy is bananas-- like Guatamala.
Hands Off Asaata!
While ya'll feast in the belly of the hairy beast,
somebody better free Mumia, at the very least, release Leonard Peltier.
Try to keep the peace by yourself.

Must gray guns delay stuff from bloomin'?
What's the way you can trust to stay human?
Cracks in the street,
a crease in the sky and it might spell doom
but at least I try to keep gloom from whom ever
'til the whole things boomin', zoomin' on in on my blue piece of pie.
I have it and eat it too.
I need it to inspire me to watch,
stay seated through the whole fractal,
stay on track 'til the end,
treat moments like eternity,

--It's not a matter of being in front of the county,
it's a matter of facing your judge, and facing your Sheriff.
