"Fix" is a song recorded by American country pop artist Chris Lane for his 2015 extended play of the same name. It was released to digital retailers through Big Loud Records on October 30, 2015 as the record's lead single. The song was written by Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure and Abe Stoklasa and produced by Joey Moi.

Background

"Fix" was written in February 2015 with the intention of co-writer Abe Soklasa recording it for his own album. However, after the song was pitched to publishers, Big Loud Records' manager-partner Seth England optioned the song for the then-newly-established label's flagship artist Chris Lane. The song was "countrified" for Lane, including lyrical changes such as the censoring of "good shit," though it retained some of the dance music and blue-eyed soul influences of the demo.

"Fix" is a song performed by American contemporary R&B group Blackstreet, originally appearing as the fourth track on their second studio album Another Level. A remixed version of the song was issued as the third single from the album and features American rock band Fishbone, as well as a rap by American hip hop musician Ol' Dirty Bastard and ad-libs by American guitarist Slash. The song peaked at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997.

The album version of the song contains a sample of "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five; and the song was later sampled in "Jambo 1997" by Tonex. The physical single contains an excerpt of "Man Behind the Music" by Queen Pen.

Theodiscus (the Latinised form of a Germanic word meaning "vernacular" or "of the common people") is a Medieval Latin adjective referring to the Germanic vernaculars of the Early Middle Ages. It is the precursor to a number of terms in West Germanic languages, namely the English exonym "Dutch", the German endonym "Deutsch", and the Dutch exonym "Duits".

The word theodism, a neologism for a branch of Germanic neopaganism, is based on the Old English form of the word.

Etymology

It is derived from Common Germanic *þiudiskaz. The stem of this word, *þeudō, meant "people" in Common Germanic, and *-iskaz was an adjective-forming suffix, of which -ish is the Modern English form. The Proto-Indo-European root *teutéh₂- ("tribe"), which is commonly reconstructed as the basis of the word, is related to Lithuanian tautà ("nation"), Old Irish túath ("tribe, people") and Oscan touto ("community"). The various Latin forms are derived from West Germanic *þiudisk and its later descendants.

The word came into Middle English as thede, but was extinct in Early Modern English (although surviving in the English place name Thetford, 'public ford'). Sink

A sink (also sinker, washbowl, hand basin and wash basin) is a bowl-shaped plumbing fixture used for washing hands, dishwashing, and other purposes. Sinks have taps (faucets) that supply hot and cold water and may include a spray feature to be used for faster rinsing. They also include a drain to remove used water; this drain may itself include a strainer and/or shut-off device and an overflow-prevention device. Sinks may also have an integrated soap dispenser.

When a sink becomes stopped-up or clogged, a person will often resort to use a chemical drain cleaner or a plunger, though most professional plumbers will remove the clog with a drain auger (often called a "plumber's snake").

History

United States

The washstand was a bathroom sink made in the United States in the late 18th century. The washstands were small tables on which were placed a pitcher and a deep bowl, following the English tradition. Sometimes the table had a hole where the large bowl rested, which led to the making of dry sinks. From about 1820 to 1900 the dry sink evolved by the addition of a wooden cabinet with a trough built on the top, lined with zinc or lead. This is where the bowls or buckets for water were kept. Splashboards were sometimes added to the back wall, as well as shelves and drawers, the more elaborate designs usually placed in the kitchen.
