For the Björk song, see Jóga.

Joga is an Italian Europop act produced by Nick Ferrando with Nathalie Aarts featured on vocals. Aarts had released four singles commercially in Europe: Dam Dariram,[1] Bye Bye Baby Balloon,[2] No Nobody's Love, and White Christmas. Joga is claimed to be quite popular among listeners of Toshiba-EMI's Dancemania non-stop megamix series, and among players of Bemani games. Of their three major songs, Dam Dariram and Bye Bye Baby Balloon are considered the most famous releases, with No Nobody's Love still popular among fans, but not featured outside of Dancemania X7. White Christmas was added to the Trance X-Mas compilation (Polystar Records, 2003), and this song has to date been their last collaboration as producer and singer.

Nathalie, whose nickname is Joga, has moved on to other smaller projects in her home town of Venice, Italy, such as singing in bars or clubs. As for what Joga means, Nathalie has stated it means "beautiful eyes" in an old European language.

Nick has moved on to manage his own record label, "Music In Head". Taken from Nick's page on Discogs, "...He defines [Music In Head] as 'My ideal space to share my music vision along with top songwriters and producers around the globe'. Few months after the birth of Music in Head, his first works as an independent producer were topping charts around UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, Benelux and Scandinavia. His own discography features now more than 50 records released in more than 40 countries worldwide."

Jóga

"Jóga" is a song by Björk, released as the first single from her 1997 album Homogenic.

An electronic song, "Jóga" fuses these elements with baroque and classical styles. The track's sound was partially inspired by Icelandic music, containing what have been described as "volcanic beats". Lyrically, the piece is an ode to Björk's native land and her best friend, while containing subtexts relating to emergency. "Jóga" has been critically acclaimed ever since its release, with reviewers praising her powerful vocal performance, as well as the track's composition and overall production. Commercially, the song was a moderate success, charting in several international markets.

Background and composition

"Jóga" is dedicated to —and named after— Björk's best friend, Jóga Johannsdóttir, who is usually thanked in her album credits. Like the rest of the album, it was produced at El Cortijo in Málaga, Spain. She wrote the song while walking and admiring the landscape, a common way for her to write songs since childhood. Björk explained "an overall picture" of it to engineer Markus Dravs, who then came out with a rhythm that she felt was "too abstract".Mark Bell, the producer of the track, then came and "took 99 percent of what [he] did and came up with some noises", giving Dravs new ideas. The singer wrote the string arrangements, which were provided late in the production process by the Icelandic String Octet.
