Alessandra Amoroso (Italian pronunciation: [alesˈsandra amoˈroːzo]; born 12 August 1986 in Galatina, Province of Lecce) is an Italian pop/soul singer. She was the winner of the 2009 edition of the Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi. In 2014 she became the first female Italian artist to win the MTV Europe Music Award for Best European Act.
Since her youth, Amoroso participated in numerous local competitions, obtaining good results. In June 2007 she participated in a contest, Fiori di Pesco, singing the song Amor mio, and placed first among the competitors, and was rewarded by Mogol. When she was seventeen, she participated in the auditions for Amici but she failed.
On October 5, 2008, Amoroso passed the audition for the eighth season of Amici di Maria De Filippi, singing the single from Alicia Keys, "If I Ain't Got You". Rudy Zerbi, the chairman of Sony Music Italy, assigned three unpublished singles to Amoroso. She participated in the recording of the compilation disc of the programme, Scialla. "Find a Way" reached the fourth place in the charts, while "Immobile" reached the top position. During the program, the singer distinguished herself thanks to her voice: all the teachers, especially Luca Jurman, recognized a sandblasted timbre. On 25 March 2009, Amoroso was proclaimed winner of Amici di Maria De Filippi, winning the first prize of 200,000 euros. On the same evening, she also received the critics' prize, a scholarship worth 50,000 euros. With this money, Amoroso says she will continue to study with voice teacher Luca Jurman.
"Find a Way" is the first single from Alessandra Amoroso. Find a Way" is the only English-language song from Amoroso.
Find a Way may refer to:
"Find a Way" is a 1985 single by Christian music singer Amy Grant. It was released as the first single from her Unguarded album. Also, "Find a Way" was Grant's first major single release, as it was issued in secular outlets by A&M Records along with the album. Although the single was released in both the United States and the United Kingdom with "It's Not a Song" as a B-side, it only charted in America.
"Find a Way" is an uptempo, inspirational song in which Grant encourages her listener, an "angry young woman", to persevere and stay optimistic despite life's trials, because "love will surely find a way."
Between 1982 and 1984, Amy Grant had become one of the most popular contemporary Christian singers to date. Her album Age to Age had become the best-selling Christian album up to that point; it became the first Christian album by a solo artist to be certified gold in 1983.
Although Grant never made public her intentions to crossover to mainstream music during this period, her success might have hinted at future decisions. When she penetrated into the country charts in late 1983 with the holiday single "Tennessee Christmas", she managed to be nominated for an ACM award for Best New Female Vocalist. In 1985 she continued her success when she performed "Angels", a song from her 1984 album Straight Ahead, on the nationally televised Grammy Awards.
"Find a Way" is the first single by A Tribe Called Quest, from their fifth and final album The Love Movement. The song samples "Technova" by Towa Tei. The New York Times' Ben Ratliff wrote that the song "innocently wonders about the point at which friendship spills over into sex."
The video starts in outer space, with a wide view of Earth that is later revealed to be a decoration in Ali Shaheed Muhammad's car. Ali spots three girls, and Q-Tip decides to make a move on all three. A scene of California appears, and shows the group walking on the beach while Phife Dawg is rapping. It then moves to a party, showing Q-Tip in a romantic moment. From there, the video shifts to an art museum where Q-Tip is talking to his girl. The video then returns to Phife Dawg on the beach, telling a girl that he will do what she wants. The video ends with the group in a club, dancing with women and having fun. During the final chorus, the video pans once again to outer space, then shows the group sleeping in Ali's car. There is an iconic sing-along style bouncing ball each time the chorus plays.
