The Madcap Laughs

The Madcap Laughs is the debut solo album by the English singer-songwriter Syd Barrett. It was recorded after Barrett had left Pink Floyd in April 1968. The album had a chequered recording history, with work beginning in mid-1968, but the bulk of the sessions taking place between April and July 1969, for which five different producers were credited − including Barrett, Peter Jenner (1968 sessions), Malcolm Jones (early-to-mid-1969 sessions), and fellow Pink Floyd members David Gilmour and Roger Waters (mid-1969 sessions). Among the guest musicians are Willie Wilson from (Gilmour's old band) Jokers Wild and Robert Wyatt of the band Soft Machine.

The Madcap Laughs, released in January 1970 on Harvest in the UK, and on Capitol Records in the US, enjoyed minimal commercial success on release, reaching number 40 on the UK's official albums chart, while failing to hit the US charts. It was re-released in 1974 as part of Syd Barrett (which contained The Madcap Laughs and Barrett). The album was remastered and reissued in 1993, along with Barrett's other albums, Barrett (1970) and Opel (1988), independently and as part of the Crazy Diamond box set. A newly remastered version was released in 2010.

    Feel (Kumi Koda song)

"Feel" (stylized as feel) is a smooth R&B song by Japanese singer and songwriter Kumi Koda. For the song, she worked closely with composer Hitoshi Shimono, who had composed the instrumental. The single is Kumi's sixth single in her 12 Singles Collection and charted at #1 on Oricon with 39,110 copies sold within the first week. As with some of the other singles released in the collection, feel was limited to 50,000 copies.

The song also became Koda Kumi's second song to have a chorus completely in English (first being 24, which was also written and composed by Hitoshi Shimono).

The music video for the single tied into the four others in the storyline: Candy feat. Mr. Blistah, you, Lies and Someday/Boys♥Girls.

The love interest in the music video was played by Shugo Oshinari. Shugo Oshinari is best known for his portrayals of Teru Mikami in the Death Note TV series and Takuma Aoi in Battle Royale II: Requiem.

    Cover

As with the other 11 singles in this collection, this single cover represents a stylized version of a traditional dress from a culture; this time it draws its inspiration from Spain and the costume of matadors.

    Vibe (Zhané song)

"Vibe" is a song by American R&B group Zhané recorded for their debut album Pronounced Jah-Nay (1994). The song was released as the album's fourth single in August 1994. The song samples George Benson's 1980 single, "Love X Love".

    Notes

    Kiss 105-108

Kiss 105-108 is East Anglia's radio station, playing dance music and R'n'B across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and North Essex. It has been known as Vibe 105-108, Vibe FM and briefly Non-Stop Vibe which ran successfully from 22 November 1997 until relaunch on 6 September 2006 as part of the Kiss network, alongside sister stations Vibe 101 in Bristol (which became Kiss 101 on the same date) and Kiss 100, London.

All three Kiss stations started to carry the new Kiss logo, and the core music genre followed Kiss 100's more urban bias (the Vibe music brand was much more dance oriented). Kiss 105-108 and Kiss 101 retained some shows and DJs who had presented under the Vibe brand, but also offered shows that were simulcast by one DJ across two or all three stations including international high profile DJs such as Armin Van Buuren and John Digweed.

Kiss 105-108 used to be broadcast from Reflection House, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, however now relays Kiss 100 for everything.

    USS Onyx (PYc-5)

USS Onyx (PYc-5), was a diesel coastal patrol yacht of the United States Navy during World War II.

The ship was built in 1924 as Janey III by Consolidated Shipbuilding Corp. of Morris Heights, New York, and was subsequently renamed Rene and Pegasus.

Purchased by the Navy on 3 December 1940 from Clifford C. Hemphill, of New York City, converted to Navy use and named Onyx, she was classified as a coastal yacht on 13 December 1940, and commissioned on 27 February 1941.

    Service history

After conversion she departed New York for Norfolk, arriving on 22 March. Sailing again, she reached New Orleans on 5 April to report for duty to Commandant 8th Naval District. Onyx performed services for ComEight as a coastal patrol vessel around the Gulf area until January 1942. On 22 January she departed Key West, Florida to return to New York and arrived there on 31 January.

Onyx was again ordered to report to the 8th Naval District at New Orleans and was underway by 13 March, arriving on 27 March. She resumed services and continued in this capacity until February 1944 when she was extensively damaged in a collision. Beyond economic repair, her ordnance was removed and she was placed out of commission, in service, retaining her name and designation, on 15 May 1944. She was designated a target vessel on 31 May, the same year, and made available for disposition on 31 October.

    Feel The Vibe

by: Diamond & The Psychotic Neurotics

    Feel the vibe [x7]
    [Diamond]
Feel the vibe, everybody gather round
I pull the plug, still my sound's profound
I had to take hip-hop back to the essence
Try to go commercial, gotta learn a lesson
You gotta get your fingers dusty (word)
And keep your ear to the street so you won't get rusty
Concentrate on the funk vibe (Funk vibe)
Learn your roots, put on your Timberland boots
I'm true to my art, I never fake a move
I keep your head bobbing to the psychotic groove
I vibe is erotic, contagious, and sporotic
I love beats so much I'm damn near neurotic
I shoot the gift like a Mack 10
And sample beats we used to cut way back then
But now the game has changed
Artist selling out just to make a name
The underground hip-hop fans can't stand it
So play like Chuck Connors, because now you're branded a sellout
So yo, get the hell out
We took a dive because you couldn't feel the vibe
Is this the vibe you desire? (Diamond running down the line)
Is this the vibe you desire? (You know you're on time)
Well let me continue with what's on the menu
I dug in the crate (Now it's time to get the papes) [x2]
    [Showbiz]
You know I feel the vibe, my name is Show B-I-Z
I used to cut at jams when I was 4 foot 3
Early in the morning listen to beats
And back then I was the shorty (With the Nikes on his feet)
Back to a brother who sold out (Did he?)
He aimed for a name and some fame without any doubt
He was my man so he let me hear a taste
But he dissed his face because the shit ain't have no bass
His beats was clogged, he needed Liquid Plumber
Damn I wonder why he sound like Donna Summers?
Or Nat King Cole, that style is old
100 G's up front you've just been sold
    They kidnap your creative control
No chance of going platinum or even gold
It wouldn't happen to me (Why not?)
I got the skills that's ill and I'm real cause I feel the beat
Is this the vibe you desire? (Show running down the line)

    [Diamond]
Yeah, I knew a kid who was nice on the mic
Had a record deal but the deal wasn't real
Cause the record label wouldn't spend any loot
But he had a deal and my man got souped
He knew a lot of old beats but it didn't matter
The label had other ideas for the platter
I heard the song and I had to scream
The had him rhyming over hype drum machines
He didn't like it but he had no say
And now he's out of here today
Try to fake the funk, it couldn't shake a rump
But the radio played the junk anyway
    But the song wouldn't budge
Now against the ex-label he holds a grudge
Looking for a deal because the song took a dive
Cause he couldn't feel the vibe
But who's to blame in the world of the rap game
Stick to your roots like a troop and let me know
Is this the vibe you desire? (Diamond running down the line)
