Big Star

Big Star was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens, and Andy Hummel. Despite exceptional reviews from critics and widely acknowledged influence upon numerous notable musicians, Big Star attained only cult status, lacking commercial success. The group broke up in 1974, but reorganized with a new line-up nearly 20 years later. In its first era, the band's musical style drew on the vocal harmonies of The Beatles, as well as the swaggering rhythms of The Rolling Stones and the jangling guitars of The Byrds. To the resulting power pop, Big Star added dark, existential themes, and produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s. Before it broke up, Big Star created a "seminal body of work that never stopped inspiring succeeding generations" in the words of Rolling Stone, as the "quintessential American power pop band" and "one of the most mythic and influential cult acts in all of rock & roll".

Big Star (South Korean band)

Big Star (Korean: 빅스타, often stylized as BIGSTAR) is a South Korean boy band formed in 2012. Their members consist of Feeldog, Baram, Raehwan, Sunghak and Jude. Big Star is currently signed to Brave Entertainment.

History

Big Star released their first single, Bigstart on July 12, 2012. They have held 100 live performances in Japan. They launched their first solo concert in March 2014, performing four concerts every week throughout the summer. Their 50th live performance was a concert at the Yakult Hall. Their 100th live performance was on September 26, 2014 at the Akasaka Blitz, Tokyo. A Goodbye fanmeet was on September 28 at the Yokohama Premiere Hall. Big Star celebrates the milestone of becoming the first idol group to hold 100 concerts in Japan as they follow in the footsteps of legendary K-Pop band, g.o.d, who held the same number of concerts in Korea during their tour. In September 2015, they made a long awaited return with a new mini-album "Shine A Moon Light".

Big Star (Kenny Chesney song)

"Big Star" is a song written by Stephony Smith, and recorded by American country music singer Kenny Chesney. It was released in January 2003 as the fourth single from the album No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 2003.

Chesney says that "This is a fun song. It’s every little girl’s fairy tale – and for some, it even does come true. But it’s not all happily ever after. That line, ‘All her old neighbors swear they're certain she slept her way to the top / But she knows you don’t get where you’re going unless you got something they ain’t got…,’ I love that because it shows you that you can make it in spite of other people refusing to believe in your dream."
