FedEx 400

The Visa 400 benefiting Autism Speaks is a 400-mile (640 km) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held annually at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware, the other one being the AAA 400, the fall race at Dover, for the Chase for the Sprint Cup, it is the first of two Sprint Cup races at Dover. The 2007 Autism Speaks 400 presented by Visa marked the first time that a NASCAR Sprint Cup race entitlement was dedicated to a non-profit organization, by the race's title sponsor, Visa Inc.

In 2015, the race began airing on FS1 after many years on Fox, though the Xfinity Series race at Dover (Buckle Up 200) aired on Fox, In 2016, the race will move up a few weeks.

FedEx Corporation is an American global courier delivery services company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The name "FedEx" is a syllabic abbreviation of the name of the company's original air division, Federal Express, which was used from 1973 until 2000.

The company has expanded from its original focus on ground and air-based services to include home delivery options and a retail division. Internationally, the company primarily competes with DHL Express, UPS and TNT Express.

Formation

FedEx Corporation is an import/export company, incorporated October 2, 1997 in Delaware. FDX Corporation was founded in January 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System Inc. by Federal Express. With the purchase of Caliber, FedEx started offering other services besides express shipping. Caliber subsidiaries included RPS, a small-package ground service; Roberts Express, an expedited shipping provider; Viking Freight, a regional, less than truckload freight carrier serving the Western United States; Caribbean Transportation Services, a provider of airfreight forwarding between the United States and the Caribbean; and Caliber Logistics and Caliber Technology, providers of logistics and technology solutions. FDX Corporation was founded to oversee all of the operations of those companies and its original air division, Federal Express.

2013 FedEx 400

The 2013 FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on June 2, 2013, at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware, United States. Contested over 400 laps on the 1–mile (1.6 km) oval, it was the thirteenth race of the 2013 Sprint Cup Series championship. Tony Stewart won the race, his first win of the season, snapping a 30–race winless streak, while Juan Pablo Montoya finished second. Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five.

Background

Dover International Speedway is a four-turn short track oval that is 1 mile (1.6 km) long. The track's turns are banked at twenty-four degrees. The front stretch, the location of the finish line, is banked at nine degrees with the backstretch. The racetrack has seats for 113,000 spectators.Jimmie Johnson was the defending race winner after winning the event in the 2012 race.

Before the race, Johnson was leading the Drivers' Championship with 445 points, while Carl Edwards stood in second with 413 points. Matt Kenseth followed in the third with 394, nine ahead of Clint Bowyer in fourth, and 24 ahead of Kasey Kahne in fifth. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with 364, was in sixth; two ahead of Kevin Harvick, who was scored seventh. Eighth-placed Paul Menard was eleven points ahead of Martin Truex, Jr. and twelve ahead of Brad Keselowski in ninth and tenth. Kyle Busch was eleventh with 332, while Aric Almirola completed the first twelve positions with 328 points. In the Manufacturers' Championship, Chevrolet was leading with 83 points, five points ahead of Toyota. Ford was third after recording only 60 points before the race.

2012 FedEx 400

The 2012 FedEx 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on June 3, 2012 at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. Contested over 400 laps, it was the thirteenth race of the 2012 season. Jimmie Johnson of Hendrick Motorsports took his second win of the season, while Kevin Harvick finished second and Matt Kenseth finished third.

There were seven cautions and seventeen lead changes among seven different drivers during the race. Johnson's win maintained his fifth place position in the drivers' championship, 33 points behind leader Greg Biffle and twelve ahead of Martin Truex, Jr. in sixth. Chevrolet led the Manufacturer Championship with 90 points, sixteen ahead of Toyota and 23 ahead of Ford in third.
