February 14th Group

The February 14 Group (French: Groupe du 14 Février) is a political alliance in Burkina Faso (former Upper Volta. It was founded in February 1997 and consists of the following parties.

  • Front of Social Forces (FFS)
  • Patriotic Front for Change (FPC)
  • Group of Patriotic Democrats (GDP)
  • African Independence Party (PAI)
  • Party for Democracy and Progress / Socialist Party (PDP/PS)
  • Party of the Independent Forces for Development (PFID)
  • Republican National Party / Just Way (PNR/JV)
  • Union for Rebirth / Sankarist Movement (UNIR/MS)
  • Party for Democracy and Socialism (PDS)

  • 748 Abbasid Revolution: The Hashimi rebels under Abu Muslim Khorasani take Merv, capital of the Umayyad province Khorasan, marking the consolidation of the Abbasid revolt.
  • 842 Charles the Bald and Louis the German swear the Oaths of Strasbourg in the French and German languages.
  • 1014 Pope Benedict VIII crowns Henry of Bavaria, King of Germany and of Italy, as Holy Roman Emperor.
  • 1076 Pope Gregory VII excommunicates Henry IV, Holy Roman Emperor.
  • 1130 Pope Innocent II is elected.
  • 1349 Several hundred Jews are burned to death by mobs while the remaining Jews are forcibly removed from Strasbourg.
