Fareham Town F.C.

Fareham Town F.C. is a football club based in Fareham, Hampshire, England. The club is affiliated with the Hampshire Football Association, and is an FA Charter Standard club. They play in the Wessex League Premier Division.

History

Fareham Town were formed in 1947, when three local sides Fareham FC, Fareham Brotherhood FC and Fareham Youth Centre FC amalgamated together after at a public meeting in the town in 1946, it was suggested to form a football club for the town. The club joined the Portsmouth League and started playing their games at Beaconsfield Meadow, before moving to Bath Lane.

At the end of the 1948-49 season the club gained promotion to Division 3 (East) of the Hampshire League, and gained promotion to Division Two as champions at the first attempt. The club made further progress in the 1952-53 season when they finished as Runners-up in Division Two to gain promotion to Division One. Three seasons later the club then made its debut in the FA Cup, making it to the fourth qualifying round before being knocked out by Wycombe Wanderers. The club in the 1959-60 competition won Division One for the first time. Further success would follow when the club won Division One, five times in a row from the 1962-63 campaign. The club would go on to win the league twice more during the 1970s. In 1975 the club then moved to its present home of the Cams Alders ground.

Borough of Fareham

The Borough of Fareham is a local government district and borough in Hampshire, England. Its council is based in Fareham. Other places within the Borough include Portchester, Stubbington, Hill Head, Titchfield, Warsash, Locks Heath, Sarisbury and half of Whiteley. The Borough covers much of the semi-urban area between the cities of Southampton and Portsmouth, and is part of the South Hampshire conurbation, with many residents commuting to the two cities for employment.

The Fareham urban district was reconstituted as a non-metropolitan district by the Local Government Act 1972 on 1 April 1974 and gained borough status.

The Borough covers the area from Portchester in the east to Warsash in the west, south to Stubbington and Hill Head and north to include part of Whiteley. It is unusual for a relatively small borough in that it has two Members of Parliament (Stubbington and Hill Head are part of the Gosport constituency), two post towns (the west of the borough is in the Southampton post town) and three telephone dialling codes (mostly 01329, but 01489 in the west and 023 in the extreme east).

Fareham (UK Parliament constituency)

Fareham is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. Since the 2015 General Election it has been represented by Suella Fernandes of the Conservative Party.

Boundaries

The constituency comprises all wards of the Fareham borough except Stubbington and Hill Head. The largest town in the constituency, as the name suggests, is Fareham. Other communities in the constituency include Portchester, Locks Heath, Warsash and Titchfield.

History

The constituency was first created in 1885, however in 1950 it was abolished to form the constituency of Gosport and Fareham. It was revived again in 1974. The constituency has always been represented by Conservatives.

APOEL FC (Greek: ΑΠΟΕΛ; short for Αθλητικός Ποδοσφαιρικός Όμιλος Ελλήνων Λευκωσίας, Athletikos Podosferikos Omilos Ellinon Lefkosias, "Athletic Football Club of Greeks of Nicosia") is a professional football club based in Nicosia, Cyprus. APOEL is the most popular football team in Cyprus and they are the most successful with an overall tally of 24 championships, 21 cups and 13 super cups.

APOEL's greatest moment in the European competitions occurred in the season 2011–12, when the club participated in the group stages of the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League (along with F.C. Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk and Zenit St. Petersburg) and achieved qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition by topping the group and eliminating Olympique Lyonnais in the last 16, becoming the only Cypriot club to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. APOEL's European competitions highlights include also appearances in the group stages of the 2009–10 & 2014–15 UEFA Champions League and the group stages of the 2013–14 & 2015–16 UEFA Europa League. F&C Asset Management Plc is an asset management company and is part of BMO Global Asset Management.

History

The Company was founded in 1972 as the manager of the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust under the name F&C Management Limited.

In 1985 the Company started managing third party funds. In 1989 the Company established a partnership with Germany’s HypoVereinsbank who acquired a 50% stake in the business; this stake was increased to 90% in 1998. In 2000 Eureko purchased HypoVereinsbank’s 90% stake and in 2001 went on to secure 100% control and consolidate their asset management activities with those of the Company under the F&C brand.

In 2004 ISIS Asset Management merged with F&C Management Limited to form F&C Asset Management and the combined business was then listed on the London Stock Exchange.

In 2008 Friends Provident announced its intention to divest its shareholding in F&C Asset Management. This was completed in 2009.

On 7 May 2014, F&C Asset Management plc was acquired by Bank of Montreal through its wholly owned subsidiary, BMO Global Asset Management (Europe) Limited.
