Far Behind

"Far Behind" is a power ballad by American rock band Candlebox and the third single from their eponymous debut album. It is one of the band's most well-known, entering the charts in July 1993 and remaining there until January the following year when it was officially released as a single. It is the group's highest-charting hit, peaking at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, after spending almost a year on the chart. It also reached #4 and #7, on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks charts, respectively. "Far Behind" was also included on The Best of Candlebox in 2006. This song charted better than any other Candlebox single and is often regarded as a '90s alternative rock staple.

Meaning

"Far Behind" is one of a few hit 1990s singles written in tribute to the late singer Andrew Wood. In a 1994 interview with Playgirl, Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin stated that it was inspired by two friends who overdosed on heroin and "represents the loss of love between friends and having to be left with the feeling of emptiness." Far Behind (Social Distortion song)

"Far Behind" is a previously unreleased composition from the veteran punk rock band Social Distortion. It is the closing track from their 2007 Greatest Hits album. According to the booklet of Greatest Hits, "Far Behind" was only recorded for that compilation. It received airplay on alternative rock stations in the United States and peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.

This is one of the first recordings with Brent Harding on bass and the last with Charlie Quintana on drums.

The instrumentals and structure of "Far Behind" are extremely similar to "Get the Time" by the Descendents, released on their 1986 album, "Enjoy!"

Farø

Farø is an island in Denmark, located between the islands Sjælland and Falster. It has an area of 0.93 km² and has a population of four people (2006). Administratively it is part of Vordingborg Municipality.

The Farø Bridges (Farøbroerne) connect Sjælland with Falster via Farø, on the European Routes E47 and E55 combined. Junction 42 of E55 is located on the western side of Farø. The island is connected by causeway with the islands of Bogø and Møn by route 287 Grønsundvej.
