Nara Prefecture

Nara Prefecture (奈良県 Nara-ken) is a prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. The capital is the city of Nara. Nara Prefecture has the distinction of having more UNESCO World Heritage Listings than any other prefecture.

History

Nara Prefecture region is considered one of the oldest regions in Japan spanning thousands of years. The present-day Nara Prefecture as it exists now officially was created in 1887, making it independent of Osaka Prefecture.

Historically, Nara Prefecture was also known as Yamato-no-kuni or Yamato Province.

Up to Nara Period

It is certain that there was a political force established at the foot of Mount Miwa in the east of Nara Basin, seeking unification of most parts in Japan from the third century until the fourth century, though the process was not well documented. At the dawn of history, Yamato was clearly the political center of Japan.

Ancient capitals of Japan were built on the land of Nara, namely Asuka-kyō, Fujiwara-kyō (694–710) and Heijō-kyō (most of 710–784). The capital cities of Fujiwara and Heijō are believed to have been modeled after Chinese capitals at the time, incorporating grid layout patterns. The royal court also established relations with Sui and then Tang Dynasty China and sent students to the Middle Kingdom to learn high civilization. By 7th century, Nara accepted the many immigrants including refugees of Baekje who had escaped from war disturbances of the southern part of the Korean peninsula. The first high civilization with royal patronage of Buddhism flourished in today's Nara city (710–784 AD).

Bir El Hafey

Ecclesiastical history

Nara was important enough in the Roman province of Byzacena to become a suffragan bishopric of the Metropolitan Achbishop of Hadrumetum, but faded.

Titular see of Nara

The diocese was nominally in 1925 restored as a Latin titular bishopric.

It has had the following incumbents, all of the lowest (episcopal) rank :

  • Patrick Dunne (1946.08.08 – 1988.03.16)
  • Nino Marzoli, Resurrectionists (C.R.) (1988.04.16 – 2000.05.24)
  • Jerome Edward Listecki (2000.11.07 – 2004.12.29), later Archbishop )
  • Jerzy Maculewicz, Conventual Franciscans (O.F.M. Conv.), Apostolic Administrator of Uzbekistan (2005.04.01 – ...)

  • False (logic)

In logic, false or untrue is a truth value or a nullary logical connective. In a truth-functional system of propositional logic it is one of two postulated truth values, along with its negation, truth. Usual notations of the false are 0 (especially in Boolean logic and computer science), O (in prefix notation, Opq), and the up tack symbol .

Another approach is used for several formal theories (for example, intuitionistic propositional calculus) where the false is a propositional constant (i.e. a nullary connective) , the truth value of this constant being always false in the sense above.

In classical logic and Boolean logic

Boolean logic defines the false in both senses mentioned above: "0" is a propositional constant, whose value by definition is 0. In a classical propositional calculus, depending on the chosen set of fundamental connectives, the false may or may not have a dedicated symbol. Such formulas as p ∧ ¬p and ¬(pp) may be used instead.

In both systems the negation of the truth gives false. The negation of false is equivalent to the truth not only in classical logic and Boolean logic, but also in most other logical systems, as explained below.
