Hush (Billy Joe Royal song)

"Hush" is a song written by American composer and musician Joe South, for recording artist Billy Joe Royal, whose single peaked at number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100 on 28 October – 11 November 1967. The chorus begins "Hush, hush, I thought I heard her calling my name", which is a takeoff from the traditional gospel song lyrics "Hush, hush, somebody's calling my name". Kris Ife covered "Hush" in 1967. Australian performer Russell Morris recorded a version in 1967 with Somebody's Image, and a heavier version with his band The Rubes in 1980. The hook of the song "na-nana-na-nana-na-nana-na" has similarity with the bridge section of The Beatles song "A Day in the Life". The Deep Purple version has a slower section also matching the timing with The Beatles song.

Deep Purple version

The song was subsequently recorded by British hard rock band Deep Purple for their 1968 debut album Shades of Deep Purple. The track became the group's first hit single peaking at number 4 on the Hot 100 on 21–28 September 1968 and number 2 in Canada while going largely unnoticed in the United Kingdom. A live, US-televised version of "Hush" appeared as a bonus track on the 2000 CD-reissue of the Shades of Deep Purple album.

Une Année

Une Année is the first full-length studio album by South Korean girl group Apink. It was released on May 9, 2012, and marked the final release for member Yookyung. The title track, "Hush", was used to promote the album.

Background and composition

Two of the songs from the album, "I Got You" and "Sky High", were a collaboration with Joker. The group also worked with Shinsadong Tiger, Super Changddai, and Kim Geonwoo.

Singles

The first single from the album, "April 19th", was released digitally on April 19, 2012.

The album's title track, "Hush", was released on May 9, 2012. The song's music video was released on May 8, and a dance practice music video was released on May 14. A Japanese version of "Hush" was later included as a B-side on Apink's Japanese single, "Mr. Chu". The promotions for "Hush" started in May 10, 2012, on Mnet's M! Countdown.

The third single, "Bubibu", was released digitally on July 6, 2012. The single was chosen through an online poll that the group ran through Mnet's website where they asked fans to choose the track for their follow-up promotions. The single version is a remix of the album version. The fourth single, "Cat", was released three days after the third single "Bubibu".

Faded (soulDecision song)

"Faded" is song by Canadian band soulDecision. It was released in December 1999 as the lead single from their debut album, No One Does It Better The song reached number-one in Canada and peaked at number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100. and being nominated for song of the year at 2001 Juno Awards.

Background and writing

The song was written by Adam Stillman, who described the song as "being intoxicated and letting one's object of affection know how you feel." It incorporates soul, 1980s pop music and hip hop.

Versions

The song has three versions: one with the beginning lyrics "When I get you all alone, I'm gonna take off all your clothes"; an edited version with "When I get you all alone, I'm gonna move in nice and close"; and a third version featuring a verse by rapper Thrust.

Music video

The video was shot in Vancouver in an apartment building having various rooms. One room was a house party, another of the band performing in an all white room, and another of the band singing together. The video was released in 1999 in Canada and then internationally in 2000. The video reached the #4 spot on MTV's TRL and #5 on MuchMusic Countdown.

Faded (Zhu song)

"Faded" is a song by Zhu, an electronic musician who has been active since the beginning of 2014. A remix extended play was released on June 29, 2014. "Faded" peaked at number one on the US Dance chart

One of the first radio stations to pick up "Faded", the alternative music orientated station Triple J, gave the song significant airplay which was responsible for its success in Australia. Subsequent to its success on Triple J, more mainstream stations began to play it, giving the song a larger audience. Eventually, "Faded" gained momentum internationally, becoming a club hit largely thanks to its initial success on Triple J. A black-and-white music video for the song was released on May 6, 2014. The track was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, but lost to "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne.

It became the third single released in 2014 to top the UK Dance Chart without topping the UK Singles Chart, the first two being "Wasted" by Tiësto featuring Matthew Koma and "Right Here" by Jess Glynne, charting at number 3.

Faded (Kate DeAraugo song)

"Faded" is a pop rock song written by Matthew Gerrard, Jessica Origliasso, Lisa Origliasso and Robbie Nevil, produced by Gerrard and Bryon Jones for Kate DeAraugo's first album A Place I've Never Been (2005). It was released as the album's second single in Australia on 19 February 2006 as a CD single and digital download. In February 2007, the song was covered by American girl band Everlife and included on their second studio album, Everlife. Everlife's version was later featured on MTV's The Hills Season 3 Episode 10.

This was DeAraugo's second top ten single following her number-one single "Maybe Tonight" from her debut platinum album A Place I've Never Been after winning series three of Australian Idol. DeAraugo went on to achieve two other top ten singles with girl group the Young Divas.

Two of the song's co-writers, Australian band The Veronicas, recorded a demo of Faded, prior to DeAraugo's release, which has been leaked onto the internet. They have also been known to perform the song live.
