Ezenwo Nyesom Wike

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (born 13 December 1967) is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is the 6th and current Governor of Rivers State. He is an Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party.

Wike was appointed Minister of State for Education on 14 July 2011. He was later appointed the Acting Minister of Education, after Mrs Riqqayatu was sacked but resigned before finishing his term to campaign for Governor of Rivers State. In 2014, he won the Rivers State People's Democratic Party primary and chose former Secretary to the State Government Ipalibo Banigo as his running mate for Deputy Governor.

He defeated Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11 Gubernatorial Polls to emerge as Governor.

Rivers State Election Tribunal Against Wike

On May 13, 2015, the Election Tribunal for Rivers State, sitting in Abuja, commenced the hearing on the election of Nyesom Wike. Dr Dakuku Peterside of the APC is seeking the tribunal to nullify the election of Nyesom Wike of the PDP who was declared winner as governor in the poll held on April 11, 2015, on the grounds that it was fraught with malpractices and non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Wike

Wike is a hamlet north of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. The hamlet is situated north of Shadwell and Roundhay, West of Scarcroft and South of East Keswick. As well as those in Leeds, many people in Wike use amenities in the nearby town of Wetherby. It is one of the few villages in Leeds which is not served by a public bus service, the last service 923 operated by Utopia was rerouted in early 2003.

Wike is home to a local Scout and Guide campsite, and several golf courses including Leeds Golf Centre, which is in turn home to Wike Ridge Golf Course, an 18-hole USGA standard course and The Oaks, a par 3 course.

WIKE (1490 AM) is a radio station located in Newport, Vermont. It currently broadcasts a country music format at 1 kw 24 hours a day. It is owned by Vermont Broadcast Associates, Inc.

WIKE, along with 29 other Nassau Broadcasting Partners stations in northern New England, was purchased at bankruptcy auction by Carlisle Capital Corporation, a company controlled by Bill Binnie (owner of WBIN-TV in Derry), on May 22, 2012. The station, and 12 of the other stations, were then acquired by Vertical Capital Partners, controlled by Jeff Shapiro. Soon after taking over, Vertical resold WIKE and WMOO to Vermont Broadcast Associates.

The sale of WIKE and the other 12 stations was consummated on November 30, 2012, at a purchase price of $4.4 million. The resale of WIKE and WMOO was consummated on January 1, 2013, at a purchase price of $760,000.
