Eyes Open (song)

"Eyes Open" is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from the soundtrack album The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond, which is not included in the film. Produced by Swift and Nathan Chapman, it was released as the lead single from the album and was sent to mainstream radio on March 27, 2012. A music video consisting of animation with the lyrics of the song was released on Vevo in May 2012.

Background

The song was one of two songs that Swift wrote and recorded for the soundtrack to the film, The Hunger Games, the other song being "Safe & Sound". Swift first premiered the song during a performance in Auckland for her Speak Now World Tour, before launching into the song she told the crowd: "I'm really excited about it...but, I mean, you don't think I'd get in trouble if I played it now? Probably not, right?" The song was leaked before its official release date of March 20, 2012. A music video comprised as a lyric video was released on May 17, 2012 on Swift's Vevo account. The video consist of animation with the lyrics.

Eyes Open is the fourth studio album by British alternative rock band Snow Patrol. It was released in the UK on 1 May 2006, and 9 May 2006 in the US. It was the band's first album without bassist Mark McClelland and the first to feature bassist Paul Wilson and keyboardist Tom Simpson. Recording for the album took place between October and December 2005 at Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland, The Garage in Kent, and The Garden and Angel Studios, both in London.

Six singles were released from the album, including top 10 hits "You're All I Have" and "Chasing Cars", the latter of which came to worldwide attention when it was featured during the season 2 finale of the American medical drama Grey's Anatomy. It went on to sell over 5 million copies worldwide and has spent a total of 166 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, more than any other song in history.

Eyes Open was the best-selling album of 2006 in the UK, selling 1.5 million copies and 6 million worldwide. It was also the 15th best-selling album of the 2000s.
