EyeEm

EyeEm is a free photo sharing mobile app for the iPhone and Android platforms. It allows users to take and edit photos using 24 filters and twelve frames, and share the photos in its own website, via email or five social networks Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr or Foursquare. The service offers an automatic tagging system that provides a topic, a location, and an event for each photo taken. The user may keep or change the tags, or upload the photo with no tags at all. The tags then group the photos into Albums or keywords that result on streams of images.

History

In 2010, Florian Meissner was in New York City when he had his SLR camera and equipment stolen on the subway. He was left with nothing else to capture images with, so a friend loaned him an old iPhone. He then realized the level of quality of images possible with smartphones as well as the number of online communities sharing their mobile photography. From there, he started to develop ideas around what a professional platform for mobile photos could look like.
