An extravaganza is a literary or musical work (often musical theatre) characterized by freedom of style and structure and usually containing elements of burlesque, pantomime, music hall and parody. It sometimes also has elements of cabaret, circus, revue, variety, vaudeville and mime.[1] Extravaganza may more broadly refer to an elaborate, spectacular, and expensive theatrical production.[2]
The term was widely used to describe to a type of 19th-century British drama made popular by James Planché. Planché defined it as "the whimsical treatment of a poetical subject."[3]
The term is derived from the Italian word stravaganza, meaning extravagance.

Extravaganza (TV series)
Extravaganza is a two-hour comedy variety show taped in Jakarta, Indonesia, which has been broadcast by Trans TV on Saturday and Monday night since its debut on May 30, 2004 until November 28, 2009. At the time, it's the most popular comedy variety show in Indonesia.

The show owed its success to its apparent creativity and originality, a new, fresh kind of comedy show in Indonesia. This, however is debatable since the format of the show appeared to be strongly based on foreign comedy shows, most prominently the American Saturday Night Live (SNL). Most of the comedic scenario the show used obviously based (sometimes even almost identical, word for word) from jokes circulating in the Internet and common Indonesian jokes, showing actually little in the way of creativity or originality.
Extravaganza (album)
Extravaganza is the fourth album by the British rock group Stackridge. The album was produced by Tony Ashton at AIR Studios, London.
The album was originally released in the UK on Elton John's label, The Rocket Record Company. Stackridge was the first group signed to the new label.
A different version of the album was released by Sire Records in the U.S and Canada. This version removed two songs already released on Pinafore Days and added "Do The Stanley" from a UK single and "The Indifferent Hedgehog" from the UK album The Man In The Bowler Hat.
Singer and songwriter Gordon Haskell rehearsed with Stackridge for a short time during 1974. Though Haskell decided not to join Stackridge they did keep one of his songs in their repertoire and decided to record it for Extravaganza. Originally called "Worms", the song was re-titled "No One's More Important Than the Earthworm".
The song "Happy In The Lord", written by Phil Welton, was a cover of a song originally performed by the band Fat Grapple, and released by them as a single in 1975.
Doctor of Philosophy
A Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD or Ph.D. or DPhil) or a Doctorate of Philosophy, from the Latin Doctor Philosophiae (for DPhil) or Philosophiae Doctor (for PhD or Ph.D.), is a type of doctorate awarded by universities in many countries.

Ph.D. (band)
Ph.D. were a British group best known for their UK Top 10 hit "I Won't Let You Down" in April 1982, although the song had been a hit the previous year throughout Europe. The band took its name from the initial letters of its three founding members' surnames; Phillips, Hymas and Diamond. The name was written so as to be a visual pun on the letters denoting a degree of the same name.
Band history
Singer Jim Diamond formed the group with former Jeff Beck Group members Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips in the early 1980s. Their self-titled début album, originally released in 1981, spawned a hit with their ballad "I Won't Let You Down" which peaked at number three in the UK Singles Chart in 1982, and number five in Australia. Following the single's success the album was re-issued and finally entered the UK Albums Chart.
Their video for "Little Suzi's on the Up" was notable for being the fifth video shown on MTV's first broadcasting day, being 1 August 1981 in parts of the U.S. They released their second album Is It Safe? in 1983. The first single, "I Didn't Know," failed to make the UK Top 40, but did well in Europe.
