Exist (song)

"Exist" is a single by electronic music artist OVERWERK. Released on June 23, 2014, the song also had "Exist (Club Mix)" released as part of a two-song EP package. OVERWERK, also a graphic designer, created the album cover.

The single was largely well-received. Wrote Vibe in June 2014, "Overwerk has the rare ability to blend sick electro with string arrangements and soundscapes that are fit to score an epic movie, making ['Exist'] both emotionally cinematic and extremely dance-inducing in one."

Production

In June 2014 OVERWERK announced he would be undertaking his first American tour in July, having up to that point only traveled Canada and much of Europe. At the same time he announced a new single, and "Exist" was released on June 24, 2014 on the record label Fabrik. The track was packaged as part of a two-track EP which featured both an original mix and an extended club mix. OVERWERK had originally thought of the concept for "Exist" as a music video, but as of July 2014 the video was still pending, with Overwerk stating that "hopefully the video will get people thinking about things they don’t usually consider."

Console (video game CLI)

A console is a command line interface where the personal computer game's settings and variables can be edited while the game is running. Consoles also usually display a log of warnings, errors, and other messages produced during the program's execution. Typically it can be toggled on or off and appears over the normal game view.

The console is normally accessed by pressing the backtick key ` (frequently also called the ~ key; normally located below the ESC key) on QWERTY keyboards or the ² on AZERTY keyboards, and is usually hidden by default. In most cases it cannot be accessed unless enabled by either specifying a command line argument when launching the game or by changing one of the game's configuration files.

History

A classic console is a box that scrolls down from the top of the screen, and is found in most computer games. This style was made popular with Quake (1996). There are other forms of console:

Impulse (software company)

Impulse, Inc. is a software company responsible for making several 3D modeling and rendering applications. Most notably TurboSilver and Imagine for the Amiga computer. They were originally located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After moving to Las Vegas they became more and more involved in creating software for casino video slot machines.

Science Fantasy (magazine)

Science Fantasy, which also appeared under the titles Impulse and SF Impulse, was a British fantasy and science fiction magazine, launched in 1950 by Nova Publications as a companion to Nova's New Worlds. Walter Gillings was editor for the first two issues, and was then replaced by John Carnell, the editor of New Worlds, as a cost-saving measure. Carnell edited both magazines until Nova went out of business in early 1964. The titles were acquired by Roberts & Vinter, who hired Kyril Bonfiglioli to edit Science Fantasy; Bonfiglioli changed the title to Impulse in early 1966, but the new title led to confusion with the distributors and sales fell, though the magazine remained profitable. The title was changed again to SF Impulse for the last few issues. Science Fantasy ceased publication the following year, when Roberts & Vinter came under financial pressure after their printer went bankrupt.

Evil (2003 film)

Evil (Swedish: Ondskan) is a 2003 Swedish drama film directed by Mikael Håfström, based on Jan Guillou's semi-autobiographical novel with the same name from 1981, and starring Andreas Wilson, Henrik Lundström and Gustaf Skarsgård. The film is set in a private boarding school in the 1950s with institutional violence as its theme.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 76th Academy Awards. It won three Swedish Guldbagge Awards including Best Film.

Plot

Erik Ponti, a 15-year-old boy, lives with his mother and sadistic stepfather in Stockholm. At home, his stepfather beats him every day after dinner. His docile mother ignores her husband's sadistic nature and allows the violence to proceed. At school, Erik is violent and frequently engages in fights, as a result of his violent upbringing. After a particularly vicious fight, Erik is expelled. The headmaster labels him vicious and accuses him of being pure evil. In an attempt to provide her son with a fresh start he sorely needs, his mother sells of some of her possessions and sends Erik to a boarding school.

Takaaki Watanabe

Takaaki Watanabe (渡辺 高章, Watanabe Takaaki), also known as Evil (stylized in all capital letters), is a professional wrestler trained by Animal Hamaguchi. Watanabe has worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling since his debut in 2011, and has also competed in the United States for companies including Ring of Honor and Global Force Wrestling.

Professional wrestling career

New Japan Pro Wrestling (2011–2013)

Watanabe made his debut for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) on May 13, 2011, wrestling primarily as a Young Lion and in the lower cards of shows and remained with the promotion until October 2013, when after King of Pro-Wrestling, announced that he was being sent on a learning excursion to the United States.

Ring of Honor (2014–2015)

At Global Wars '15 the first night May 15 he teamed with Silas Young in a losing effort against Gedo and Moose. The following night May 16, he was defeated by Silas Young.

On the June 27 episode of ROH Wrestling, he lost to Adam Page after Colby Corino attacked Watanabe. On the July 4 episode of ROH Wrestling Dalton Castle would defeat Takaaki Watanabe. On July 23, ROH announced that House of Truth member Donovan Dijak will battle Takaaki Watanabe in a singles match that will be taped exclusively for ROH's YouTube Wrestling Channel. This occurred July 24 at Death Before Dishonor XIII where Dijak defeated Watanabe.

Evil (Earth, Wind & Fire song)

"Evil" is a song by R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire which was written by Philip Bailey and Maurice White. It was released in 1973 as a single and included on the band's 1973 album, Head to the Sky. It's a rework of "Bad Tune", a song originally recorded in their debut album Earth, Wind & Fire as an instrumental.

"Evil" peaked at numbers 50 and 25 on the Billboard Pop and Black Singles charts respectively. It also peaked at #19 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.

Evil was sampled by Amerie on the track Can We Go which was featured on her 2005 album Touch.
