Abandon (band)

Abandon is an American Christian rock band from San Antonio, Texas. The group had five members: brothers Josh (lead vocals) and Justin Engler (guitar), cousins Stevan (guitar) and Dave Vela (drums), and Bryan Fowler (bass). They signed onto ForeFront Records in late 2007 and released the Abandon EP in July 2008. Their first single "Providence" was released to radios in August and has reached No. 7 on R&R's Christian rock charts.

The group's name was inspired by the Bible verse of Matthew 10:38, which reads "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me."

History

The group of two brothers, two cousins, and friend (and former bassist) Ryan Reavis, formed as an independent band in the 2002, playing worship music at their church. In 2005 they began to play local concerts and released their first album Ambush, which was produced by the band and Tavis Wilson. Soon after the release of their second album, Who You Are (produced by Kevin Bruchert), Reavis chose to leave the band. Not long afterwards, Bruchert introduced the band to Bryan Fowler after they played at his church. Soon after, Fowler joined the band.

Abandon (film)

Abandon is a 2002 American psychological thriller film released by Paramount Pictures. It was written and directed by Stephen Gaghan, starring Katie Holmes as a college student whose boyfriend (Charlie Hunnam) disappeared two years previously. Despite being set at an American university, much of the movie was filmed in Canada at McGill University's McConnell Hall.

It is based on the book Adams Fall by Sean Desmond. The book was re-titledAbandon for the movie tie-in paperback printing.

The film co-stars Zooey Deschanel and Gabrielle Union, with Benjamin Bratt playing the detective investigating the boyfriend's disappearance. It received generally negative reviews, with Variety magazine dismissing it as "a tricked-up Fatal Attraction wannabe".

Plot

Senior college student Katie Burke (Holmes) is struggling to deal with the stress of completing her thesis and succeeding in an upcoming rigorous interview process. To make matters even more complicated, Detective Wade Handler (Bratt), a recovering alcoholic, reopens the two-year-old police investigation into the disappearance of her boyfriend, Embry Larkin (Hunnam). An orphaned young man of considerable means, Embry had purchased two tickets for Crete before his disappearance; the tickets had never been used and Embry's financial assets had not been touched since his disappearance. With the official reopening of the Larkin case, however, Katie begins to see Embry lurking around campus, seemingly stalking her.

Everything (Michael Bublé song)

"Everything" is a song recorded by Canadian singer Michael Bublé, and released as the lead single from his third major-label studio album, Call Me Irresponsible.

Background

Bublé wrote the lyrics of "Everything" for his then girlfriend Emily Blunt. He later explained: "I wrote the song about the great happiness of real love, but at the same time I was making a statement about the world. We’re living in really crazy times, and I wanted to say that no matter what’s happening, this person in my life is what really makes it worthwhile." Unlike Bublé's other work, this song strays away from being big band oriented, carrying some elements of pop and rock. It is completely devoid of a horn section, as well as being guitar driven. A piano and an acoustic guitar carry the main melody of the song, with electric guitars audible in the chorus. Bublé's vocal arrangement is also different from his previous material; his voice often makes big interval changes in most of his material, but his voice in this particular song is projected smoothly without going into loud intervals. It is comparable to his previous hit single, "Home", from the album It's Time.

Everything (EP)

Everything is an EP released by American country music artist Chely Wright. This is Wright's first EP and first release on her own record company, Painted Red. The album features the video hit "Back of the Bottom Drawer" along with four demos. The EP also contains a DVD that includes footage personal footage and photos of Wright.

The album was released exclusively on Wright's official website; however, it was later available in major retail outlets.

"Everything" is a single released by New Zealand music producer P-Money. It features vocals by Vince Harder. It Was released to the UK market on 7 September 2009 on 3 Beat Blue.

Release and chart performance

The single was released in New Zealand in September 2008 debuting at #40 on the RIANZ New Zealand Singles Chart, and peaked at #1 on 13 October. Vince Harder, the vocalist of the song, is known for portraying the lead role of Simba in the Australian version of The Lion King stage production.

The song was certified Gold in New Zealand with sales of 7,500+ after eight weeks and has currently spent 23 weeks on the chart.

Music video

The music video was directed by Rebecca Gin and P-Money and was produced by Fish 'N' Clips.

The concept was that having music around is like having a 'shoulder buddy', and he feels like he has a friend, even if his real-life relationship failed to blossom. Unfortunately, his music player was stolen, taking his shoulder buddy away from him, and leaving P-Money alone in the middle of the alley with only his unplugged headphones on.
