Eva Moore

Eva Moore (9 February 1868 – 27 April 1955) was an English actress. Her career on stage and in film spanned six decades, and she was active in the women's suffrage movement. In her 1923 book of reminiscences, Exits and Entrances, she describes approximately ninety of her roles in plays, but she continued to act on stage until 1945. She also acted in more than two dozen films. Her daughter, Jill Esmond, was the first wife of Laurence Olivier.

Early life and career

Moore was born and educated in Brighton, the eighth of ten children, the last of whom was the actress Decima Moore. Her parents were the chemist Edward Henry Moore and his wife, Emily (née Strachan) Moore. She attended Miss Pringle's school in Brighton and then studied gymnastics and dancing in Liverpool. Returning to Brighton, she taught dancing.

In 1891 she married actor/playwright Henry V. Esmond (1869–1922). They had three children: Jack (an actor), Jill (the actress Jill Esmond, first wife of Laurence Olivier) and Lynette, who did not survive infancy. Her husband wrote more than a dozen plays in which she appeared, and they appeared together in more than a dozen plays.

Eva Moore (Doctors)

Eva Moore was a fictional character in the BBC soap opera, Doctors. She was portrayed by Angela Lonsdale and made her first appearance on 18 October 2007. Eva left on 21 October 2008 as she had to go into witness protection but she returned for a brief period in September 2011.

Storylines

She was the girlfriend of well established GP, Dr. Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan). Eva was a Detective Inspector with Letherbridge Police and in October 2008 her career led to her departure. She was shot by criminals who persistently caused trouble for her. She returned to Letherbridge on September 9, 2011 at the Mill Health Centre. She met up with Clay, but she realised he had moved on; soon afterwards, he became engaged to Cherry Malone (Sophie Abelson).
