Eva Moll

Eva Moll (born June 15, 1975 in Karlsruhe) is a German contemporary artist. Moll works in the media fine art printmaking, drawing and painting and its expansion in the areas of performance art and conceptual art. Beside works on canvas and paper; Happening, video art and installation count to her Œuvre. A large part of her work stands in the traditions of appropriation art, pop art, fluxus and action painting. She lives and works in New York and Berlin.

Life and Work

As a student Eva Moll took weekend courses at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in 1989. After her German preparatory school graduation in 1994 at the Rudolf Koch School in Offenbach am Main, she completed a one year internship at the fine art painter and restorer Manfred Scharpf at the Castle Zeil in Leutkirch im Allgäu. There she acquired knowledge to old master techniques and processes in the studio and exhibition making.

From 1995 Eva Moll studied at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany in the fields of visual communication and fine arts. Her study focus was on free graphics, drawing and painting with old and new media and interdisciplinary art. While studying Moll realized the global multi-media project: "The Ornamental Symbol" on traveling in Europe, Asia, Africa and America (1996-1998). This was followed by the urban visual diary project "Eva in The Big Apple" in New York City (1998-2000). 2000 Eva Moll graduated with an artistic university degree (M.f.A.) under the Professors Walter Rabe and Paul Driessen.

Evaň

Evaň is a village and municipality (obec) in Litoměřice District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of 7.54 square kilometres (2.91 sq mi), and has a population of 280 (as at 31 December 2007).

Evaň lies approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) south of Litoměřice, 32 km (20 mi) south of Ústí nad Labem, and 44 km (27 mi) north-west of Prague.

EVA (エヴァ) is a fictional character from Konami's Metal Gear series. Created by Hideo Kojima, EVA is introduced in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in 2004.

Appearances

According to her backstory, EVA was born in Meridian, Idaho, on May 15, 1936. At some point in her childhood, prior to the advent of World War II, she, along with several other children across the world, were taken by the Philosophers secret world government conspiracy and raised in a joint U.S.-Soviet-Chinese facility, receiving spy training at one of the Philosophers "charm schools," so she could become a sleeper agent. As a result of this, she was indistinguishable from any other native-born American. She eventually joined The Second Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Staff Headquarters, responsible for collecting military intelligence. There, she learned techniques such as "bandit shooting," a horizontal sweep using the Shanxi Type 17 handgun.

Molló

Molló (Catalan pronunciation: [muˈʎo], Catalan for "milestone") is a town and municipality in the comarca of Ripollès in Girona, Catalonia, Spain, located in the Pyrenees, by the French border. Molló borders to the north with Prats de Molló (in Vallespir, France, connected by the Coll d'Ares pass of the Pyrenees), to the east and south with Camprodon, and to the west with Llanars and Setcases.

Etymology and spelling

"Moll" derives from "Molly", used as a euphemism for "whore" or "prostitute". The Oxford English Dictionary lists the earliest usage in a 1604 quote by Thomas Middleton: "None of these common Molls neither, but discontented and unfortunate gentlewomen." The existence of the popular derivative spelling, mole, likely reflects the word's history as a spoken, rather than written, insult. Popular usage of this spelling can be seen in the name of The Comedy Company character, Kylie Mole. Another example can be seen in a poem by Kevin Munro: "'That Dee will have our jobs; she's a fair dinkum mole!'". The author suggests that this spelling doesn't carry the underworld connotations of the much older moll variant.
