In sports, offense (US) or offence (Can.) (see spelling differences; pronounced with first-syllable stress), also known as attack, is the action of attacking or engaging an opposing team with the objective of scoring points or goals. The term may refer to the tactics involved in offense, or a sub-team whose primary responsibility is offense.

Generally, goals are scored by teams' offenses, but in sports such as American football it is common to see defenses and special teams (which serve as a team's offensive unit on kicking plays and defensive on returning plays) score as well. The fielding side in cricket is also generally known as the bowling attack despite the batting side being the side that scores runs. In counties other than North America, the term offence is almost always taken to mean an infraction of the rules, a penalty or foul, and attack is more likely to be used where Americans would use 'offense'.

Synthesizer

A sound synthesizer (usually abbreviated as "synthesizer" or "synth", also spelled "synthesiser") is an electronic musical instrument that generates electric signals that are converted to sound through instrument amplifiers and loudspeakers or headphones. Synthesizers may either imitate the still existing sounds (instruments, vocal, natural sound, etc.), or generate new electronic timbres not existing before. They are often played with a musical keyboard, but they can be controlled via a variety of other input devices, including music sequencers, instrument controllers, fingerboards, guitar synthesizers, wind controllers, and electronic drums. Synthesizers without built-in controllers are often called sound modules, and are controlled via MIDI or CV/Gate using a controller device.

Synthesizers use various methods to generate signal. Among the most popular waveform synthesis techniques are subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis, wavetable synthesis, frequency modulation synthesis, phase distortion synthesis, physical modeling synthesis and sample-based synthesis. Other less common synthesis types (see #Types of synthesis) include subharmonic synthesis, a form of additive synthesis via subharmonics (used by mixture trautonium), and granular synthesis, sample-based synthesis based on grains of sound, generally resulting in soundscapes or clouds.

Energy (Keri Hilson song)

"Energy" is the debut single by American recording artist Keri Hilson. The song was written and produced by The Runaways, consisting of Louis Biancaniello, Sam Watters, Rico Love, and Wayne Wilkins, for her studio album In a Perfect World… (2009).

The track was released as the first single from the singer's debut in the United States on May 27, 2008. Although being released worldwide it initially only charted in New Zealand at number two and only managed to reach top thirty on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Dance Club Play charts.

Generally well received by music critics, it was named sixty-first on The Top 144 Songs of 2008 listing by Blender magazine.

Background

"Energy" was written and produced by The Runaways. It was also recorded by The Runaways at Homesite 13 studios in Novato, California. and Hilson stated that she wanted to prove that she can be successful even without collaborations and guest vocalists and so it was announced "Energy" would be released as the next worldwide single following the success of "Knock You Down". The song was released on September 14, 2009 in the UK. On September 25, 2009 she appeared live on breakfast TV show GMTV in the UK where she performed the single. That same day, she appeared on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge where she performed a stripped version of "Energy" as well as a gospel cover version of "Supernova" originally sung by Mr Hudson and Kanye West.

Seven Year Itch (Collective Soul album)

On September 18, 2001, Collective Soul released their greatest hits compilation Seven Year Itch: Greatest Hits, 1994-2001 (stylized as 7even Year Itch). The compilation includes songs recorded from 1994 to 2001 and included two new tracks; "Next Homecoming" and "Energy". Seven Year Itch received decent reviews and was relatively successful It sold 225,000 copies in the first year after its release and reached number fifty on the Billboard 200; in Canada, it reached number nine on its albums chart and went platinum. All the songs in Seven Year Itch had charted in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock Tracks, or the Modern Rock Tracks chart, except for "Energy", which debuted in this compilation.

The compilation has sold over 500,000 copies. It saw a resurgence in sales after Collective Soul began putting out albums on their own independent label, El Music Group, beginning in 2004.

Seven Year Itch was the last album Collective Soul released through Atlantic Records and their last album to feature guitarist Ross Childress, who had been with the band since its 1993/1994 debut.

"Energy" is the second single by Canadian rapper Drake from his fourth commercial release If You're Reading This It's Too Late.

"Energy" contains samples from Eazy-Duz-It performed by Eazy-E and Ridin Spiners performed by Three 6 Mafia. Energy was produced by Boi-1da and OB O'Brien. According to WhoSampled the song samples the score of an episode of The O.C..

Critical reception

"Energy" received acclaim from music critics with many calling it the best song of the album. Ryan Dombal of Pitchfork gave the song a positive review and named it "Best New Track", stating "The song isn't aimed to any rappers or pop stars, not Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean or Tyga, but the song lines are dangerous."

He then appeared on the second Young Money compilation album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire, on three songs, including the first single "We Alright". Euro released an mixtape called July, on July 31, 2014. It was a preview for the mixtape, Don't Expect Nothing that has multiple delays and has no scheduled release date.

Euro developed his rapping talents by getting into Christian rap early at the age of 7 in his fathers church.

Euro's stage name was inspired by the first two letters of his first name and last name (Eufradis Rodriguez).Lil Wayne announced that Euro was the newest signee to Young Money Entertainment on his Dedication 5 mixtape. Euro featured on four songs on that mixtape in 2013, "Ain't Worried", "Cream", "Fuckin' Problems", and "Live Life". Lil Wayne has said that it was his "straight-to-the-point lyrical style" that first attracted him to Euro. He then appeared on the second Young Money compilation album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire, on three songs, the first single "We Alright", "Bang", and a solo track "Induction Speech". In 2014 Euro attended a street heat production free-styling back and forth with Cory Gunz, showing off his extensive rap skills. Euro Released a freestyle over Rico Richie's "Poppin" beat produced by 808 Mafia.
