Eternal (band)

Eternal is an English R&B girl group formed in 1992. The line-up consists of sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett, and Kéllé Bryan. Louise Redknapp was a member from 1992 until her departure in 1995. Eternal became an international success and achieved fifteen Top 20 hits in the UK, and have sold around 10 million records worldwide. They were considered the UK's answer to the American girl group En Vogue.

The group released their debut studio album Always & Forever in 1993, after which Redknapp left; the group carried on as a trio. In 1998, Bryan was sacked from the group by the other two members, who gave "a breakdown in professional relations" as a reason. The remaining duo split in 2000. The group reformed in 2013 for the second series of the ITV2 series The Big Reunion, with Bryan rejoining the group. Redknapp decided not to return to the group. The group performed a one off concert In March 2014. In 2014, Kelle announced that again she was leaving the group due to health issues.

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.

Magnetized (album)

Magnetized is the third album by Johnny Hates Jazz released on May 24, 2013. This album was the band's first album in 22 years, after Tall Stories and the departure of fellow bandmates Calvin Hayes and Phil Thornalley. The album, was followed by the release of the same-titled lead single, along with a corresponding music video.

Critical reception

Upon release Magnetized received highly favorable reviews from critics. Radio Creme Brulee stated that the album might be 2013's "pop album of the year". Nick Pett of Backseat Mafia gave the album a more mixed review, but later said that the album "isn't all bad.."

Eternal (Jamie O'Neal album)

Eternal is the third studio album by Australian country music singer Jamie O'Neal. It was released on 27 May 2014 via Shanachie Records. Except for the closing track and first single, "Wide Awake", every song is a cover song.

Content

Artists covered on the album include Emmylou Harris, Juice Newton, Connie Smith, and Larry Gatlin. On her choices for content, O'Neal told Billboard that "These songs had a lot to do with my childhood… I think I based the album what I loved and listened to when I was a kid. I think it's so important to keep the heritage alive in this technological world is so important. It's so easy to get away from where we came from. It's important for me to keep those songs alive."

The only original song is "Wide Awake", which O'Neal wrote with her father, Jimmy Murphy. She also co-produced the album with her husband, Rodney Good.

Critical reception

Jeffrey B. Remz of Country Standard Time rated the album favorably, saying that "Credit also goes to Good and O'Neal for not only accentuating her vocal skills, but also not being afraid to let the traditional country sounds filter throughout." Bobby Peacock of Roughstock rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars, writing, "The song variety is excellent, offering plenty of forgotten gems and familiar songs. While most of the arrangements aren't terribly far-removed from their originals… Jamie leaves her own mark on every single one by merit of her colorful singing voice alone".

Eternal (Samael album)

Eternal is the fifth album by the Swiss heavy metal band Samael. It was released in 1999 and features black metal vocals coupled with electronics, synthesizers, samples and guitars.
