Undertow (video game)

Undertow is an original video game developed by Chair Entertainment for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service.

Gameplay

Undertow features a 15 level campaign for single-player or co-op and two multiplayer modes for up to 16 players. Players select their race (Iron Marine, Nemoidian, Atlantean, or Elect) and unit type and are then launched into battle. Each of the four races features four unique, upgradeable unit types ranging in ability from the fast and agile to the large and powerful. Players have the ability to unlock and purchase unit upgrades as they acquire points. Each unit type has three levels of permanent upgrades.

Through conquest-style battles, players obtain points by killing enemies, accomplishing team goals, and capturing check points. Points and a variety of power-ups can be used to further upgrade unit abilities.

Plot

Undertow is set underwater, where an aquatic alien race known as the Elect launches an attack on the polar ice caps, causing them to melt and flood the planet. Most of the human race is decimated in the destruction. The remaining humans band together to reclaim the planet back from the alien race. The Iron Marines, an elite group of underwater divers, are sent to combat the alien threat. Elsewhere Captain Nemo and his followers become enraged at the oceanic disturbances, joining the fight. With the city of Atlantis thawed by the melting of the ice caps the Atlanteans also become a threat, vowing to reclaim the planet and rule again.

Undertow (1949 film)

Undertow is a 1949 thriller film directed by William Castle, starring Scott Brady, Peggy Dow, Bruce Bennett, Dorothy Hart and John Russell. It is the story of an ex-con, a former Chicago mobster, who is accused of the murder of a high ranking Chicago boss. The movie marks the second film to feature a young actor named Rock Hudson and the first in which he received a film credit for his work.

Plot

Tony Reagan (Scott Brady), a former Chicago mobster and ex-con, is vacationing in Reno at a lodge. He bumps into an old friend/former colleague from Chicago named Danny Morgan (John Russell). It turns out they are both engaged to be married.

On his way home to Chicago, Reagan shares the flight with a schoolteacher, Ann McKnight (Peggy Dow), someone he met at a Reno casino and helped win at the gambling table. Reagan arrives home and is met by the police. It seems that Reagan is a suspect as a potential trouble maker due to his past dispute with a Chicago mob kingpin, Big Jim, his fiancee's uncle. The police put a tail on him, which he shakes on a Chicago elevated train. Reagan meets up with his bride-to-be, Sally Lee (Dorothy Hart). He tells her he will go to Big Jim to make peace. But when the uncle is murdered, Reagan is framed for the murder.

Transformers: Power Core Combiners

Transformers: Power Core Combiners is a 2010 toy line by Hasbro (Takara Tomy in Japan as Transformers: United EX) that combines elements of Combiners, Targetmasters and Mini-Cons. The 5-pack figures come with drones that combine with the main figure, while the 2-pack figures come with Mini-Cons that transform into their weapons; the figures can also combine with the drones in different combinations.

According to the box packaging, Power Core Combination is a lost technology that is rediscovered on Earth by the Autobots. The Decepticons, however, steal this technology and equip their own robots with it.

Escape (Sirius XM)

Escape is a Sirius XM Satellite Radio music channel, available on XM channel 69,Sirius channel 69 and DISH Network channel 6069, as well as online and via a mobile app.

Escape features a beautiful music format, described as "Easy, Instrumental and vocal favorites and the great popular melodies popular over the last sixty years", and plays a music from such instrumental artists as Henry Mancini, Chet Atkins, Bert Kaempfert, Richard Clayderman, Ferrante & Teicher, Geoff Love, Jackie Gleason, Andre Kostelanetz, Paul Mauriat, and Percy Faith, as well as vocalists such as Andy Williams, Anne Murray, Barry Manilow, Perry Como, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand and The Carpenters.

XM had previously featured the beautiful music format on Sunny, channel 24. In early 2006, the Sunny channel, which was owned by Clear Channel Communications, changed formats and started airing commercial interruptions as the result of an arbitration settlement with Clear Channel. Due to the format change of Sunny and the commercial interruptions, XM created the Escape channel (channel 78, prior to the Sirius-XM merger, and channel 28 after) as a commercial-free beautiful music channel. After the merger with Sirius in 2008, Escape started incorporating more vocal tracks into its playlist (to compensate for the loss of Sirius' more soft-AC based Movin' Easy channel), but these were reduced after complaints.

Ride the Lightning

Ride the Lightning is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. The album was released on July 27, 1984, by the independent label Megaforce Records. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on the band's concept, represents an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The album title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Whilst still rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partially because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and because he had more input in the songwriting. The overall recording cost was paid by Metallica's European label Music for Nations because Megaforce was unable to cover it. It was the last album to feature songwriting contribution from former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine.

Escape (Jessop and Palmer book)

Escape is a book by Carolyn Jessop and Laura Palmer. It discusses Jessop's upbringing in the FLDS polygamous community. Her childhood was affected by the sect's suspicion of outsiders, the division that took place in that FLDS in the 1970s and '80s and by the increasing strictness of the sect her family belonged to. She experienced life with a mother who suffered from depression and was violent with her children. She observed conflict between her parents over celebrating Christmas and the effect of her surroundings and the strictness of the sect on her mother's mental condition and on her mother's relationship with her husband. Importantly for later, she observed and learned how to work round her mother's mood swings and how other children reacted to spanking so as to mitigate the violence but she also learned from her grandmother to take great pride in her church's tradition of plural marriage.

Carolyn wanted to go to college and study medicine but when her father went to seek permission for her to go to college, the condition was that she marry Merril Jessop. It was arranged that she marry Jessop in two days, and to prevent her running away, she had to sleep in her parents' bedroom. She wrote, "The idea of sexual or physical contact with a man thirty-two years my senior was terrifying " Merril Jessop already had three other wives.
