Ernest Campbell

Ernest John Campbell (23 September 1903 13 July 1993) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the Canadian House of Commons. Born in Chatham Township, Ontario, he was a farmer by career.

He was first elected at the Lambton—Kent riding in the 1957 general election and re-elected there in the 1958 election. He was defeated by John Burgess of the Liberal party in the 1962 election.

    Herbert Ernest Campbell (1856-1930) was an Anglican priest in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

    Prescott was educated at Exeter College, Oxford and ordained in 1879. After curacies in Brighton and London he was Vicar of Millom; Rector of Workington; Archdeacon of Furness; Vicar of Barrow-in-Furness; Archdeacon of Carlisle; and a Canon Residentiary at Carlisle Cathedral.

    He died on 17 June 1930:his son was also Archdeacon of Carlisle.

    Many Steamboat residents will recognize the Campbell/Zimmerman House, built at the corner of Fifth and Oak in 1900 by Ernest Campbell, as the longtime home of the Tread of Pioneers Museum. Campbell, a noted builder, sold the house to the Zimmermans.
