A ERA is a Bulgarian publishing house created by Tsvetelina Decheva (Dečeva; president) in 1996. It publishes mainly translated works by authors such as Jeffery Deaver, Orson Scott Card, Agatha Christie, Katerine Eliot, Stefan Kisyov and Aleksandr Belov.
Pemoline is a stimulant drug of the 4-oxazolidinone class. It was first synthesized in 1913 but its activity was not discovered until the 1930s. Under the names Betanamin, Cylert, Tradon, and Ceractiv it was used as a medication to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances, it is a Schedule IV drug. It is no longer generally available in the United States as a result of the FDA withdrawing approval of pemoline as an indicated treatment for ADHD, due to its implication in liver failures among children who were receiving the medication. An FDA Alert warned against prescribing pemoline for ADHD. This spurred Abbott Laboratories, the patent owner of Cylert, to cease manufacturing Cylert. Manufacturers of the generic equivalents followed suit.
Pemoline is generally considered dopaminergic, but its precise method of action hasn't yet been definitively determined. Pemoline passes the blood–brain barrier and acts as a surrogate for dopamine, not affecting endogenous intracellular dopamine. For this reason, and the fact that it has little or no affinity for adrenaline receptors, pemoline has minimal sympathomimetic side effects such as: dry mouth, reduction in appetite, high blood pressure, increased heart rate, constriction of smooth muscle, cardiac stress, dilated pupils and insomnia. There is some data to suggest that pemoline is a nootropic acting as a catalyst conductor in the synapses of the brain's memory centers, raising the efficiency of memory and assisting RNA formation in the brain. While drugs like dexamphetamine and methylphenidate are classified as Schedule II, pemoline is listed as Schedule IV (non-narcotic). In studies conducted on primates, pemoline fails to demonstrate a potential for self-administration.
Fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) is the fraction or percentage of oxygen in the space being measured. Medical patients experiencing difficulty breathing are provided with oxygen-enriched air, which means a higher-than-atmospheric FiO2. Natural air includes 20.9% oxygen, which is equivalent to FiO2 of 0.209. Oxygen-enriched air has a higher FiO2 than 0.21, up to 1.00, which means 100% oxygen. FiO2 is typically maintained below 0.5 even with mechanical ventilation, to avoid oxygen toxicity. If a patient is wearing a nasal cannula or a simple face mask, each additional liter of oxygen adds about 4% to their FiO2 (for example, a patient with a nasal cannula with 2L of oxygen attached would have an FIO2 of 21% + 8% =29%).
Often used in medicine the FiO2 is used to represent the percentage of oxygen participating in gas-exchange. If the barometric pressure changes, the FiO2 may remain constant while the partial pressure of oxygen changes with the change in barometric pressure.
Jens Axboe (born circa 1976) is a Linux kernel hacker. He is the current Linux kernel maintainer of the block layer and other block devices, along with contributing the CFQ I/O scheduler, Noop scheduler, Deadline scheduler and splice IO architecture. Jens is also the author of the blktrace utility and kernel parts, which provides a way to trace every block IO activity in the Linux kernel. blktrace exists in 2.6.17 and later Linux kernels.
To facilitate his block layer work in the Linux kernel, Axboe created the flexible IO tester (fio) benchmarking and workload simulation tool. fio is able to simulate various types of I/O loads, such as synchronous, asynchronous, mmap, etc., as well as specifying the number of threads or processes, read vs. write mix, and various other parameters. fio was used to set the world record in December 2012 for the highest number of I/Os-per-second (IOPS) in a single system.
In May 2010 Axboe joined Fusion-io after leaving Oracle Corporation. He announced on a mailing list on Friday, January 24 2014 that he was leaving Fusion-io after 3.5 years to join Facebook.
Try To Say Goodbye
Jory Eve
(I Still Know What You Did Last Summer)
I'm holding a letter that I wrote last night
Tryin' to remember what it says inside
The words are written but never been said
Your voice keeps calling in my head
I don't believe it's time
But I try to say goodbye
But I feel so lost inside
I don't know my name
And I can't erase what's weighing on my mind
It says I'd be leavin' on a redeye plane
But I know I'm coming back again
You've heard the story a thousand times
The song is playing in your mind
I'm asking myself why
Then I try to say goodbye...
But I feel so lost inside
I don't know my name
I can't erase what's weighing on my mind
I try to stay awake, trying to write the words
And I'm trying to write the word goodbye
... to say goodbye
But I feel so lost inside
I don't know my name
And I can't erase what's weighing on my mind
And I try to say goodbye
But I feel so lost inside
And I try to say goodbye
And I try...
And I try... to say goodbye
And I try to say goodbye
I try...
