The word bit is a colloquial expression referring to specific coins in various coinages throughout the world.

United States

In the United States, the bit is equal to one eighth of a dollar or 12 ¹⁄₂ cents. In the U.S., the "bit" as a designation for money dates from the colonial period, when the most common unit of currency used was the Spanish dollar, also known as "piece of eight", which was worth 8 Spanish silver reales. One eighth of a dollar or one silver real was one "bit".

With the adoption of the decimal U.S. currency in 1794, there was no longer a U.S. coin worth ¹⁄₈ of a dollar but "two bits" remained in the language with the meaning of one quarter dollar, "four bits" half dollar, etc. Because there was no one-bit coin, a dime (10¢) was sometimes called a short bit and 15¢ a long bit. (The picayune, which was originally ¹⁄₂ real or ¹⁄₂ bit (6 ¹⁄₄¢), was similarly transferred to the US 5¢-piece.)

In addition, Spanish coinage, like other foreign coins, continued to be widely used and allowed as legal tender by Chapter XXII of the Act of April 10, 1806 until the Coinage Act of 1857 discontinued the practice.

Development

For the first film, Richard Rickitt explains that to "produce the characters who inhabit the computer world, actors were dressed in costumes that were covered in black-and-white computer circuitry designs....With coloured light shining through the white areas of their costumes, the resulting characters appeared to glow as if lit from within....optical processes were used to create all of the film's computerized characters..." Frederick S. Clarke reports that "Tron: Legacy will combine live action with CGI," adding that "several characters...will be completely digital..."

Tron

Kevin Flynn

Kevin Flynn is a former employee at the fictional software company ENCOM and the protagonist of the first film. He is played by Jeff Bridges.

At the start of the first film, he is manager of "Flynn's", a video arcade where he impresses his patrons with his skills at games that (unknown to them) he designed at ENCOM, but remains determined to find evidence that CEO Ed Dillinger plagiarised Flynn's work to advance his position within the company. Throughout most of the film, Flynn travels around the digital world, accompanying the eponymous character Tron; but later discovers that as a User, he commands the physical laws of the digital world, enabling him beyond the abilities of an ordinary program. Eventually, he enables Tron to destroy the Master Control Program shown to oppress the digital world, and upon return to the material world obtains the evidence necessary to expose Dillinger, and becomes ENCOM's CEO himself.

Intro (R&B group)

Intro is an American R&B trio from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The trio consisted of members Jeff Sanders, Clinton "Buddy" Wike and lead singer/songwriter Kenny Greene. Intro released two albums (for Atlantic Records): 1993's Intro and their second album, 1995's New Life. The group had a string of US hits in the 1990s. The hits included the singles "Let Me Be The One", the Stevie Wonder cover "Ribbon in the Sky", "Funny How Time Flies" and their highest charting hit, "Come Inside".

Intro's Kenny Greene died from complications of AIDS in 2001. Intro recently emerged as a quintet consisting of Clinton "Buddy" Wike, Jeff Sanders, Ramon Adams and Eric Pruitt. Adams departed in 2014, with the group back down to its lineup as a trio. They are currently recording a new album to be released in 2015. The group released a new single in 2013 called "I Didn't Sleep With Her" and a new single "Lucky" in October 2014.

Trust in Few

Trust in Few is the debut and only album of Ocala metalcore band We Are Defiance, released in March 2011.

Background and recording

The band announced that Tyler "Telle" Smith of The Word Alive and Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria would be featured on one track each. Smith was featured on the track "Not Another Song About You", though Worsnop was pulled off Trust in Few by his label Sumerian due to the fact the bands' records came out too close together.

The album was produced by ex-A Day to Remember guitarist Tom Denney, who also engineered, mixed and mastered the album at Diamond Studios in Ocala, Florida.

Release

Originally set for release on March 15, the release was delayed after a car accident the band had while touring through the US at the beginning of 2011, when lead vocalist Brian Calzini was brought into the hospital.

"To the Moon", "I'm Gonna Bury You Underground Eli" and "Weight of the Sea" were all released as singles prior to the album's release, with a music video shot for "It's Not a Problem Unless You Make It One".

Intro (The xx song)

"Intro" is the opening song of English indie pop group The xx's 2009 self-titled debut album. The trip hop instrumental was composed by the group and produced by one of its members, Jamie xx. The song has been positively received, as well as getting comparisons to the works of Casiokids, Interpol and the music used in James Bond movies. It has been analyzed by The Daily Telegraph to have been a "TV favourite", getting play in several television commercials, events, and shows. The track has reached number 129 on the UK Singles Chart, as well as appearing record charts in France, Spain and the United States.

Production

"Intro"'s production was handled by Jamie xx, who was also mixer. The recording and mixing was held between December 2008 and May 2009 at XL Studios, a studio by XL Recordings located in London, England. Rodaidh McDonald engineer the track and was also mixer. Romy Madley Croft and Baria Qureshi played guitar, the latter being a keyboardist for the song, while Oliver Sim was bassist. Finally, the mastering was done by Nilesh Patel at studio The Exchange in Camden Town.

Enuff

"Enuff" is a single by DJ Shadow from his 2006 album The Outsider. It features Q-Tip and Lateef the Truth Speaker. The name is a play on the word 'enough'.

Music video

The music video for the song features representations of DJ Shadow, Q-Tip and Lateef the Truth Speaker performing in a factory filled with cardboard boxes. The video was directed by ROJO (Josef Baar & François Roland).
