Emphasis! (On Parenthesis)

Emphasis! (On Parenthesis) is an album by the Stanton Moore Trio, released on April 22, 2008. Organist Robert Walter and guitarist Will Bernard, both of whom played with Moore on his previous solo album, III, are featured on the album.

Notably, each track on the album features a title containing a parenthetical statement, as does the title of the album. This is Moore's response to the gentle ribbing of his Galactic bandmates that he includes brackets in almost every song he writes.

Emphasis (telecommunications)

In telecommunications emphasis is the intentional alteration of the amplitude-vs.-frequency characteristics of the signal to reduce adverse effects of noise in a communication system.

The whole system of pre-emphasis and de-emphasis is called emphasis.

The high-frequency signal components are emphasized to produce a more equal modulation index for the transmitted frequency spectrum, and therefore a better signal-to-noise ratio for the entire frequency range.

Emphasis is commonly used in LP records and FM broadcasting.

Pre-emphasis

In processing electronic audio signals, pre-emphasis refers to a system process designed to increase (within a frequency band) the magnitude of some (usually higher) frequencies with respect to the magnitude of other (usually lower) frequencies in order to improve the overall signal-to-noise ratio by minimizing the adverse effects of such phenomena as attenuation distortion or saturation of recording media in subsequent parts of the system. The mirror operation is called de-emphasis, and the system as a whole is called emphasis.

Transform is the second single album by the South Korean boy band Teen Top. It was released in January 11, 2011 with the song "Supa Luv" as the title track. A remix version of the song was released in February 18, 2011.

History

The K-pop world has been buzzing over the group's hot new looks, including their eye-catching, silver-haired cyborg concept. This time Teen Top's album photography is done by renowned photographer Hong Jang Hyun, who previously worked with Big Bang, 2NE1, and Lee Hyo Ri. It also helps to have Shinhwa's Eric around to feature in the teaser for the title song Supa Luv, a stylish dance pop number produced by Shin Hyuk (the producer of Justin Bieber's One Less Lonely Girl).

Transformation (function)

In mathematics, particularly in semigroup theory, a transformation is any function f mapping a set X to itself, i.e. f:X→X. In other areas of mathematics, a transformation may simply be any function, regardless of domain and codomain. This wider sense shall not be considered in this article; refer instead to the article on function for that sense.

Examples include linear transformations and affine transformations, rotations, reflections and translations. These can be carried out in Euclidean space, particularly in dimensions 2 and 3. They are also operations that can be performed using linear algebra, and described explicitly using matrices.

Translation

A translation, or translation operator, is an affine transformation of Euclidean space which moves every point by a fixed distance in the same direction. It can also be interpreted as the addition of a constant vector to every point, or as shifting the origin of the coordinate system. In other words, if v is a fixed vector, then the translation T_v will work as T_v(p) = p + v.
