Notes (2013 film)

Notes is a short romantic comedy film about a pair of roommates whose relationship developes through a series of post it notes. Notes marked the first installment of a trilogy of short films by Worrying Drake Productions. The film was also the directorial debut for John McPhail.

Plot

Adam (Tyler Collin) has just moved into a new flat with Abi (EmmaClaire Brightlyn) who is a nurse. The pair have never met and as a result of their conflicting sleep patterns the pair communicate via post it notes. What starts off as a complaint over their preferred types of coffee soon develops into flirtatious messages.

Notes was released on 7 June 2013 and was positively received by critics. Thomas Simpson of MovieScramble wrote:

The film went on to appear in many domestic and international film festivals and picked up the Best Film accolade at the Edinburgh Bootleg Film Festival, as well as the audience award at the Palme Dewar festival in Aberfeldy.

Notes (application)

Notes is an application developed by Apple. It is provided on their iOS and in OS X operating systems, the latter starting with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. It functions as a service for making short text notes, which can be synchronised between devices using Apple's iCloud service.

The application uses a similar interface on iOS and OS X, with a textured paper background for notes and light yellow icons, suggesting pencil or crayon. Until 2013, both applications used a strongly skeuomorphic interface, with a lined paper design; the Mountain Lion version placed this inside a leather folder. This design was replaced in OS X Mavericks and iOS 7.

OS X version

Prior to Mountain Lion, Mail on OS X supported a mailbox containing notes, which was synced with notes in the Notes application in iOS. This situation was a kludge: as Mail already implemented the IMAP mailbox synchronisation protocol, it could also sync notes with minimal additional work.

In Mountain Lion, notes were moved to a separate Notes application. Created notes are synced through all the user's Apple devices through the iCloud service. Notes can be arranged in folders, and pinned to the user's desktop. When the application is closed, the pinned note still remains. Additionally, unlike the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch version, the OS X Mountain Lion Notes application allows for images to be embedded within notes.

Origins

Amir, meaning "Lord" or "commander-in-chief", is derived from the Arabic root a-m-r, "command". Originally simply meaning commander-in-chief or leader, usually in reference to a group of people, it came to be used as a title for governors or rulers, usually in smaller states, and in modern Arabic is analogous to the English word "prince". The word entered English in 1593, from the French émir. It was one of the titles or names of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

Emir (film)

Emir is a 2010 Filipino drama-musical film by acclaimed Filipino director Chito S. Roño. The film revolves around a girl that becomes a domestic helper in a fictional oil-rich Arab nation of Yememeni.

Plot

Amelia, a girl from a poor Ilocano family, decides to go abroad and find her fortune and also help her family. She becomes a maid of a royal family in the Middle East, which is running out of time, for the wife of the Sheikh is giving birth to a child. The newborn child is a son named Ahmed, and the Sheikh's wife asks Amelia to take care of the baby, to which she agrees. Amelia grows fond of the baby, teaching him to speak Tagalog and play tumbang preso.

After twelve years of service, Amelia's life has improved. Unfortunately, a war is coming and the royal family is forced to leave the palace in case they are attacked. When the palace is attacked, some of the maids and even the wife of the Sheikh are killed, but Amelia and Ahmed manage to escape by going to a secret door in the house and, with the help of Boyong the driver, go to a faraway place to hide.

Emir (grape)

Emir is a native white grape of Cappadocia region of Turkey. It is mostly planted in Cappadocia and Nevşehir province in Turkey. Emir makes straw yellow color wines with green reflections that has a green apple, kiwi, lemon and orange aroma on the nose. It makes crisp, refreshing wines.

Emir is also used to make sparkling wines as well. Wines are light, medium bodied, light yellow color with high acidity and delicate. Emir doesn't match with oak barrel and generally should be consumed in 1 – 2 years.
