Emily Young (film director)

Emily Young (born 1970) is an award-winning English film director and screenwriter. Her film Veronika Decides to Die, an adaptation of the book by Paulo Coelho and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar was released in 2009.

Early life

Emily Young, the third of four children, was born in Islington, London, the daughter of Helen Young (née Mason) and Hugo Young. Both her parents were journalists and her mother was also a charity worker and children's book author.

Education

Emily Young completed her education at Edinburgh University before training as a director at the Polish National film school.

Emily Young FRBS (born 1951) is a British sculptor. She is considered one of the foremost sculptors working in Britain today and has been called "Britain's greatest living stone sculptor". She was born in London into a family of artists, writers and politicians. Her grandmother, Kathleen Scott, was a colleague of Auguste Rodin, and widow of the polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, who subsequently married Emily's paternal grandfather, the politician and writer Edward Hilton Young, 1st Baron Kennet. Her father, Wayland Hilton Young, 2nd Baron Kennet, was also a politician, conservationist and writer. Her mother is the writer and commentator Elizabeth Young. Her uncle was the ornithologist, conservationist and painter, founder of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, Sir Peter Scott.

Biography

Emily Young received her secondary education at Putney High School, Holland Park School, Friends School Saffron Walden, and the King Alfred School, London. First interested in painting, she spent her youth in London, Wiltshire and Italy before she attended the Chelsea School of Art for one term in 1968 and also studied at Saint Martin's School of Art. In the late 1960s and '70s, she travelled widely, visiting Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, France and Italy, Africa and the Middle East and lived in the United States, where she studied with the sculptor Robert White.

Nicholas Rush

Nicholas Rush (portrayed by Robert Carlyle) is an expert in Ancient technology. His research was hindered while he was married to Gloria Rush. Since her death, he has become more dedicated to science. He spearheads the Icarus Project, his main priority being to explore the mystery behind the ninth chevron of the Stargate. Rush was stationed at the Icarus Base in 2009, in order to do research on the ninth chevron. During an attack on the base, Rush and Eli Wallace figure out how to dial the ninth chevron, and are responsible for sending the remaining Icarus personnel to an Ancient ship known as the Destiny, a spaceship situated in a far-away galaxy, with no way of returning to Earth. Rush is greatly obsessed with completing Destiny's mission and won't let anyone stop him.

Bella Swan

Isabella Marie "Bella" Swan (later Bella Cullen) is the fictional protagonist of the Twilight series, written by Stephenie Meyer. The Twilight series, consisting of the novels Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, is primarily narrated from Bella's point-of-view.

In Twilight, Bella moves to her father's home in Forks, Washington, meets the mysterious Cullen family, and falls in love with Edward Cullen. However, she soon discovers that the family is a coven of vampires. Bella expresses a desire to become a vampire herself, against Edward's wishes. In the second novel, New Moon, Edward and the other Cullens leave Forks in an effort to keep Bella safe from the vampire world. Jacob Black, a member of the Quileute tribe who is also a shape shifter taking a wolf form, comforts the distraught and severely depressed Bella. She comes to care deeply for Jacob, though less than she loves Edward. In Eclipse, Bella becomes engaged to Edward, and they marry in Breaking Dawn. Edward then transforms Bella into a vampire after she nearly dies giving birth to their daughter, Renesmee. Bella has the ability to shield her mind (from mind reading, attacks, etc.), an ability she's had from the beginning. But once she is transformed into a vampire, her ability is enhanced to where she can also expand her shield to protect others from mind control.
