Elíal
Elíal is a Castilian Spanish, experimental pop band based in Valencia, Spain. The band was founded by members Alberto Amar (guitar) and Eli m Rufat (vocals and keyboard) in July 2012. Their influences include James Blake, Portishead, Pirates, and Radiohead.
History
The name "Elial" originated from Amar and Rufat's prior work together as visual artists, in which they would sign their work as such. In their first year together Elíal released their self-titled debut EP produced by Pablo Silva. Initially the band consisted of only Amar and Rufat. By November 2012 however they were joined by Hugo Caminero (drums) and Dani Odisseu (guitar). That month the EP was officially launched with a concert at the Sala Wa Wa in Valencia. The show was positively reviewed, being described as a "cosmic spectacle" as well as "conquering and convincing". They have since performed regularly in Valencia and Madrid. Their first full album, Dentro, was released in the fall of 2014. It was recorded in the mountains of Cuenca, and produced by Suso Saiz.
El Al
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd (TASE: ELAL), trading as El Al (Hebrew: אל על, "To The Skies" or "Skywards", Arabic: إل عال), is the flag carrier of Israel. Since its inaugural flight from Geneva to Tel Aviv in September 1948, the airline has grown to serve some 45 destinations, operating scheduled domestic and international services and cargo flights to Europe, North America, Africa and the Near and Far East from its main base in Ben Gurion International Airport. The predecessor airline, Palestine Airways, had ceased to operate when its aircraft were impressed by the Royal Air Force for service in World War II.
El Al in principle offers only kosher in-flight meals and does not fly passengers on the Jewish Sabbath or religious holidays. It is the only commercial air-liner to equip its planes with missile defense systems, and is considered one of the world's most secure airlines, thanks to its stringent security procedures, both on the ground and on board its aircraft. Although it has been the target of many attempted hijackings and terror attacks, only one El Al flight has ever been hijacked. As Israel's national airline, El Al has played an important role in humanitarian rescue efforts, airlifting Jews from other countries to Israel, setting the world record for the most passengers on a commercial aircraft (single plane record of 1,122 passengers) by Operation Solomon when 14,500 Jewish refugees were transported from Ethiopia in 1991.
Eliad, Golan Heights
Eliad (Hebrew: אֵלִי עַד) is an Israeli settlement and a moshav, located in the southern Golan Heights. It falls under the jurisdiction of Golan Regional Council and in 2013 had a population of 302. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
Israel captured the area from Syria in June 1967 in the Six-Day War. In 1968 as a Nahal settlement was founded, and became a moshav two years later. It was originally called El Al (Hebrew: אֶל עָל), "skyward", the same as Israel's national airline El Al (as an alteration of the name of the Arab village of Al ‘Al = "the high place"), and later renamed Eli Al (Hebrew: אֵלִי עַל), before assuming its current name. It is named in memory of the Israel's spy Eli Cohen who was captured and hanged in Syria.
Eliad is home to the Château Golan winery.
