Elysia

Elysia may signify:

  • Elysia (band), a deathcore band
  • Elysia (gastropod), a genus of gastropods
  • Elysium, a section of the underworld containing the Elysian Fields
  • Elysia, a terrestrial planet in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
  • Elysia, Valley of the Nude a 1933 film about the nudist movement

  • Elysia (gastropod)

Elysia is a genus of sea slugs, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Plakobranchidae. These animals are colorful sea slugs, and they can superficially resemble nudibranchs, but are not very closely related to them. Instead they are sacoglossans, commonly known as sap-sucking slugs.

Elysia sea slugs graze on algae and some species such as E. viridis and E. chlorotica hijack the chloroplasts for themselves. The chloroplasts end up lining the slug’s digestive tract, enabling the slugs to survive solely by photosynthesis for several months at a time. This association is crucial for the development and maturing of the slug. Exactly how the slugs use the chloroplasts is unclear, as many of the proteins used are encoded in the genome of the host cell. These proteins, numbering in the hundreds, are manufactured in the cell’s nucleus, and then moved into the chloroplast, enabling it to survive.

This genus was previously sometimes considered to be in the family Stiligeridae, and was also previously placed in the family Elysiiidae.

    Aniliidae

The Aniliidae are a monotypic family created for the monotypic genus Anilius that contains the single species A. scytale. Common names include American pipe snake and false coral snake. It is found in South America. This snake possesses a vestigial pelvic girdle that is visible as a pair of cloacal spurs. It is ovoviviparous. Its diet consists mainly of amphibians and other reptiles. Currently, two subspecies are recognized, including the typical form described here.

    Description

This species is found in Amazonian South America, the Guianas, and Trinidad and Tobago. It is a moderate-sized snake attaining a size of about 70 cm (28 in) in length. It is reported to be ovoviviparous and feeds on beetles, caecilians (burrowing amphibians), amphisbaenids (legless lizards), small fossorial snakes, fish, and frogs. It has a cylindrical body of uniform diameter and a very short tail; it is brightly banded in red and black (but without yellow bands); reduced eyes lie beneath large head scales. It is considered to be the snake that most resembles the original and ancestral snake condition, such as a lizard-like skull.

    CrossGen

Cross Generation Entertainment, or CrossGen, was an American comic book publisher and entertainment company that operated from 1998 to 2004.

The company's assets were acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2004. In July 2010, Marvel Comics (by then owned by Disney) announced plans to revive CrossGen titles.

    History

CrossGen Comics, Inc., was founded in 1998, in Tampa, Florida by entrepreneur Mark Alessi.

In 1999, the company acquired the Orlando-based multigenre fan convention MegaCon, from founder James Bretibiel. Breitbiel then became CrossGen's Marketing and Distribution Director.

In January 2000, CrossGen Comics, Inc. debuted with CrossGenesis, a sneak-peek at the CrossGen universe. It gave an outline of the universe, worlds and characters of CrossGen’s flagship titles that would be released six months later. Mark Alessi and Gina M. Villa, head of creative departments, wrote a history of the Sigilverse before any comics were written. The head creative team consisted of Barbara Kesel, Mark Waid and Ron Marz. Unlike other comics companies such as DC Comics and Marvel Comics, which mainly rely on freelance writers and artists, most of CrossGen's talent were salaried employees of the company and worked out of its headquarters in Tampa. Later creators such as J.M. DeMatteis worked freelance, with CrossGen publishing finished properties. The company's publications covered a variety of genres with characters inhabiting a single shared universe.

    Elysia (band)

Elysia is an American deathcore band from Shingle Springs, California. Originally called Elysium's Revenge, the band was started in 2003 while the members were just freshmen and sophomores in high school. Since 2003, they have released two EPs and one full-length album, and have completed two US tours despite almost constant line-up changes. Having settled into a more solid line-up, the band released their latest full length, Lion Of Judas, on June 10, 2008, through Ferret Records. The band disbanded in 2008, but announced their reformation in 2013.

They have toured and performed alongside many bands, including Arsonists Get All the Girls, Knights of the Abyss, Catherine, Emmure, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Impending Doom, Killwhitneydead, Suicide Silence and This Is Hell. They also have performed at the Saints & Sinners Festival in 2007. Elysia has close ties with Knights of the Abyss and Arsonists Get All the Girls; for example, Zak Vargas did guest vocals on Knights of the Abyss's full-length Juggernaut, on the track "Decaying Waste".

    Fading Away

    by: Elysia

Take me away from this cold alley, recall these words before I'll die.
This is my end you need to carry, no turning back, it's my last time.
I know this night will be the last one for me, I feel so cold and I'm alone.
Save this land from that evil we've sown.
So, I can live free as a spirit in the sky.
Fading away, it's sealed in this stone wall.
Fading away, can you hear my last call.
I was so close to end this battle.
I was afraid, I couldn't see you still live, it's all that matters.
Now you can own this victory.
I know this night will be the last one for me, I feel so cold and I'm alone.
Save this land from that evil we've sown.
So, I can live free as a spirit in the sky.
Fading away, it's sealed in this stone wall.
Fading away, can you hear my last call.
These eyes can't see your light.
Only the weak are afraid to die, so I'm fading away.
I've been waiting for you there, behind dark light.
Welcome inside, I saved this seat for you, so enjoy my mind.
I've got your memories here, so close your eyes!
