Elms School
The Elms School is an independent preparatory day school for children ages 3-11 in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. It is the junior school to Trent College and shares the same campus and governing body as the main school. The Nursery is housed in its own building and caters for children aged 3-5.
History
The Elms opened on the 9 September 1999 with 142 pupils with Mrs Anne Beardsley as the first Head and just 15 members of staff. At that time the school occupied only the original "Elms Hotel" building and three temporary classrooms. The school has since expanded and its buildings have been renovated and refurbished over the years.
Buildings and facilities
The Upper Elms is used for pupils in Years 4 to 6 and for teaching information and communication technology (ICT) and music. The other building, known as Lower Elms, is used for the younger pupils, and for assemblies, gym, dance and drama for the whole school. A bungalow is provided for children in the Nursery adjacent to the Lower Elms and provides places for up to forty children.
