Ello

Ello is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Milan and about 8 kilometres (5 mi) southwest of Lecco. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,202 and an area of 2.4 square kilometres (0.93 sq mi).

Ello borders the following municipalities: Colle Brianza, Dolzago, Galbiate, Oggiono.

Ello (social network)

Ello is an online social networking service created by Paul Budnitz and Todd Berger in March 2014. It was created as an ad-free alternative to existing social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter. It is currently in beta.

Overview

Ello is free to use, but is exploring a freemium model to finance future activities. It is also selling specially branded T-shirts in a partnership with Threadless to generate revenue.

History

Ello started as a private social network consisting of seven artists and programmers. After a year of the social network being private, the creators redesigned the website and launched Ello to the public.
